That would be a tough one Art, but I think we could come up with a list from AC members. It's not the Longhorn mod that makes hum with some tables, but the basic Grado itself (which I knew you knew, but had to say). Wayner

The Moody Blues The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over Simply Vinyl Disappointed in the quality of vinyl used in this pressing. Some surface noise on all 4 sides after two deep cleanings and risning with RO deionized water. Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat An original pressing I bought two years ago for $2.00 at the local public radio station fund raising sale of records, CDs, tapes, etc. Cover was in excellent condition and record was mint to...

Bryston doesn't make music!!!!
Published (2009-11-23 20:46:00)
Bryston doesn't make music... Music makes Bryston. I can think of no other way to sound my satisfaction for my newly acquired BCD-1. With the BCD-1 I hear music through an entire Bryston kit. What that means is a complete neutral and an unimposing sound-stage. To hear music that isn't played by gear that tries to step in its ways to impress. This kit gets right out of the way of any musical quality and allows you to forget...

Miles Davis (with Gil Evans Orchestra)- Porgy and Bess - Original 1958 British CBS stereo pressing (CBS62108) This LP is a visual Near Mint/Mint. However, there is a six revolution pop at the beginning of Track 1/Side 2. Otherwise, this LP looks and plays like new. It's a stunning find. $20 because of the pop (otherwise this would be a $50 LP) + $3.50 S+H

Published (2009-11-23 21:18:00)
Brand new, sealed box Running Springs Audio Jaco power conditioner.  This was bought to go in demo room.  But reduction in number of components in room means I can get by with just the Dmitri in there.  Because I'm such a JPS Labs convert, this unit was ordered without the power cord from the factory.  Their cords are good.  I just prefer the JPS Labs sound.  So included with this...

Quote from: Wayner on 17 Nov 2009, 08:10 PM On our local classic rock station this morning, morning DJ Tom Bernard of KQRS FM made a comment that really got me to thinking. Is FM bound for the dumpster? I have the opportunity to pick up a nice FM tuner, but now I'm having second thoughts. I enjoy FM in the morning and early afternoon as one or more tuners are going at the same time and it's ...

I find that the Cardas math works very well, but it results in the speakers being very far out in the room. I recently re-did my placement after adding a good amount of absorption. I used the non-dipole algorithm before which had my speakers 5.3 feet out from the front wall and 3.3 feet from the side walls. But my speakers are dipoles. I thought it sounded pretty good and I didn't want to ...

Sorry that I have not been active in the forum as of late but college has had me very busy this year. I up until recently owned a Bryston 2B amp paired with a PS Audio 4.6 preamp running Dynaudio Contour 1.3 monitors. I have been buying and selling used electronics to good effect in order to gain funds for upgrades. A month ago I purchased a Krell KAV 300iL integrated amp. for $850.00 off ...

Hi Q. DAMPING FACTOR: is a measure of the amplifier's ability to control the woofer, and is measured by dividing the speaker impedance, (normally 8 ohms), into the amplifier's output impedance, (usually in the range of 0.02 ohms). The lower the amplifier's output impedance, the less the amplifier's output level is affected by variations in the speaker impedance. Also, since the woofer's voice-...
