Well chatchy, you're right in so far as, if we were all on true sun time, then it would be like having a virtual infinitude of time zones, each microseconds apart from adjacent ones. Time arrangements would be approximations. Reducing it to ~24 of them cuts out a lot of those complications. Rambo, We know that. You seem to be arguing that JC got a boost by the luck that the HRE (please note the "H") favored J.C. True....

This unhappiness with government policies and leaders is reflected in numerous other Rasmussen Reports surveys. Americans, for example, now view being a member of Congress as the least respected job one can hold. Gees, I wonder why, ey? (that they aren't "go to guys"....can't get the job done or agree on just about anything that would improve the plight of those that elected them?!!! President Obama's job...

'Capitolium - Roman hill with Temple of Jupiter'. So that's where the Capitol comes from. Chief and Chef come from old and modern French versions of Caput too. I suspect that Kaputt is not related. For one thing the accent is on the wrong syllable. I never know words like Imprison or Emprison. Inquire or Enquire or maybe it depends on which side of the Atlantic.

You can DL it and install it later. HP sucks. They adulterate the software. That's why you have problems. The cheap-arsed motherboards don't help. I got Win 7 Pro Upgrade for $100 because I pre-ordered it in July. Wipe the hardrive and get a full version and do a clean install.

To use auto accidents as a justification for gun ownership makes no sense at all. One has nothing to do with the other. But you are wrong. It's the same thing exactly. A two to three thousand pounds of metal and glass traveling at speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour is as deadly as any handgun. Proof? Check the stats on automobile deaths and hand gun deaths , automobile injuries and handgun injuries. Look at yourselves. Yes, please do....

Documentaries, drama, comedy, sport. I don't get to watch news as the wife can't stand it, yet I'm forced to sit through soaps. Ho-hum. Mostly when watching the NFL I'm screaming abuse at the officials and/or coaches/players. This year though as a Vikings fan I've been able to watch everything except Colts games without burtsting a blood vessel, but I'm sick and tired of the officials acting as a 12th or even 13th...

I just went to the masseuse that do the "happy ending" and I can tell you it was a different experience. She told me I have the biggest penis she saw in awhile so that was a nice compliment! I think I like the regular massage better since it's more relaxing and get rid of your knots but I will go to the "happy ending" masseuse once every three months for a human oil change.

It's the same idea as M.A.D. - with nukes - if eveyone has them, eveyone will be too scared to use them. Except guns aren't nukes and people aren't
countries.

LotD,
I think you might have gotten a major piece of it with emotions.
It seems to me somewhere at or after the Baccalaureate level of education, emotions seem to be paved over by intellect. It just seems to make people a little
more Spock like.
If you watch late night TV, perhaps you've noticed how entertaining Craig Ferguson is. He's probably got a genius level intellect. Yet I'm not sure...

I'll be watching higher quality basketball players, UNC vs Michigan State. I remember I used to watch presidential addresses but I have o interest in what
this guy or the last have/had to say. It seems early for a state of the union, so whats this grandstanding to be about?

I guess the guys in the kiosks are more aggressive where you shop. I've never had more than one or two hassle me as I passed. If I don't bother to look
their way, even they shut up soon enough. I can size up most of those stands before I get within "hawking distance" and if it's nothing that
interests me, I don't even look as I get closer. Even so, I very rarely hear one making pitches to the ...

It's due to evolution R15.
Women are the ones that gestate. That's a huge investment in time, nutrition, physical pain, etc.
And the first 9 months are the easy part. It's the next two decades that are the real headache.
Over evolutionary time periods, women have learned to be, and have been rewarded for being as selective as they can possibly be.
That's the strategy women use to ...

I've argued this one before, Sear. Jesus didn't "reset" or set the clock, the system was adopted several hundred years after his death and
simply became the de facto norm through the fact that the church was the dominant power at the time (argue that point if you want, it could be interesting).
The fact is that it is the western world that has forced its clock and calendar onto other cultures...

Capital and Capitol. Hmmm. "Capitol" is the seat of government, which is what a "capital" is. from caput Latin for
"head". "Capitol" being the building where the seat of a particular legislature meets, as opposed to the city/area location that
the building is located in, is an odd American distinction. You wouldn't find an Englishman referring to the Houses of Parliament as the Capitol, nor a...

I haven't eaten camel, so far as I know.
But I've eaten countless hotdogs.
I seriously doubt there's anything about camel meat that's as gross as what's in hotdogs.

I have considered it all. I am too old to leave organs. I also
believe people should do their best to spend every last dime as they get closer to death. If you are leaving a large estate behind, your kids can't help
hoping you will die soon lol
