Rete Testis - Pathology Report
Published (2009-11-25 19:27:00)
I would strongly suggest having the slides and paraffin blocks sent to a GU Pathologist. I would take the consensus at that point. (As I did with 3 path reports )

Neupogen
Published (2009-11-25 19:29:00)
I had one cycle without GCSF and two cycles with. I didn't notice any difference in the way I felt or the speed at which I recovered. The GCSF played its role in raising the level of neutrophils in my blood, and so helped to ward off the infections that I'd suffered - so in that respect I felt better, but in terms of the recovery from the effects of chemo, I didn't notice any difference that I would attribute to the GCSF. Having...

working during chemo.....
Published (2009-11-25 09:46:00)
It really depends on how the chemo makes you feel. There was no way I was able to work during chemo because it knocked the stuffing out of me (nice thanksgiving pun there) but I have heard from quite a few people on here who have worked during chemo.

I think if there really were any active cancer that produces HCG the reading would go up a lot more than 2 points in the 6-8 week time period you mentioned. Did he have high HCG levels when he was initially diagnosed?
Good luck with the CT. Waiting is definetly the hardest part.

Northwoods,
What gets me, is that everyone thinks they know what it is like. They don't. Know one knows what this is like until it happens to them or their significant other. (I include myself in that). Everyone wants to know how things are going, and they seem to think things are worse then they seem. A co-worker of mines husband has terminal cancer of a different sort. I had no idea what she ...

Hi Mate,
Has you testicle been removed yet? Sonds like it has not which makes it strange that thye would be saying seminoma at this stage as this will generally be confirmed from the pathology that is made after the op.
Cheers

Hey Bill,
Thanks for coming out and sharing your experience. I'm sorry that your RPLND was as painful as it was, like you said; different people react differently to surgery. As far as "downplaying RPLND", I don't think anyone here does that. We are all fans of your A-Team as well as the mid-west A-Team in Indiana, and other around the world. Most people are now starting to understand that ...

I'm sorry Erin. I haven't heard from Nick for a little while. Well, I
wouldn't despair just yet. Wait and see if this second blast of HDC can
finish it off. If not, maybe it will be localized and surgery could be an
option. Maybe I'll give him a call soon. Keep your head up, you're doing
great. I don't know how I'd be doing this without my wife and I'm sure Nick
feels the same.

I would expect a pathology report to state that clearly. However, the NCCN guidelines don't take into account rete testis invasion into their staging scheme. When it comes to staging, the difference between pT1 or pT2 is lymphovascular invasion or extension of the mass to the tunica vaginalis. Rete testis invasion has been linked to risk, but to tell you the truth, I don't know why that has ...

Sean, I'm really sorry to read about all you've been through and continue to have thrown at you. I'm so glad you're in expert hands, and I hope surgery will turn out to be curative.
Have you checked into clinical trials ? You can contact LIVE STRONG Survivor Care for help looking for matches.
I'm rooting for you. Keep us posted.

Hey there,
Sorry you have to go through this nerve-wracking period but just remember the most important thing (which this forum helped me remember a few months ago when my 25yrold boyfriend was diagnosed): in case of cancer, testicular cancer is highly, highly highly curable.
This forum will help you out a lot too; everyone is great.
Now, I will try to answer some of your q's with my ...
