Nothing wrong with overkill though, and if you ever decide to upgrade later on with a Corsair TX750W you won't have to upgrade unless you decide to go and get an extremely-high-end card, or SLI/Crossfire setup. You can carry it over to your next build, and they have a five year warranty and "mean time before failure" of eleven years.

Usually the higher number(slower timing) is more stable. If it tested good at 2 leave it, it won't hurt anything.

Hi,
Please do the following:
Download Combofix from either of the links below. You must rename it to combafix.exe before saving it.
Save it to your desktop. Change the save as file type to "all files"
**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, delete it, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved and renamed...

I'm afriad given that the laptop is "ticking" it sounds like the hard disk has failed :(
Enter the BIOS and reset everything to defaults and see if that has any effect. Also see if it will boot from a CD/DVD, thus at least you know the machine itself is working in a sense. Usually when hard disks start ticking they're dead or very close

Do you get a repair option when you hit f8 during boot up? If you hit f8 after you see the computer company screen. If you haven't then try a repair on it, that will restore the laptop back to the day you got it. I don't think it will change the partitions back but it should get you out of safe mode.
