Harvard's message is clearly a sour one. It's message to consumers is stay away from certain areas. Pretty dumb. What is a consumer supposed to do, avoid flying home to Mom's at Thanksgiving because her city is highly contagious? If the app shows a high concentration of flu in Houston, should business people not fly there? The good messages relate to precautions. Otherwise, the app does nothing more than inflame public...

Its not just the immediate financial impact of a move like this that would concern Oracle, its the tangential long-term impact. Oracle would also have to carefully analyze it's contract with each of it's customers either directly or indirectly affected by this move to ensure it's not breaching a contract. As a previous poster stated, a move such as you suggest would destroy Oracle's credibility globally with IT management....

Hello Again,
Just now I successful gained access to my Citibank account online, using Ubuntu 9.10. No issues, no need for the Firefox addon: User Agent Switcher either.
Thanks.

Anon, while you state the obvious that the next IPhone will one-up the Droid, there will be a MAJOR difference this time around. Verizon now has one heck of a phone on the VERIZON network. People contemplating going for an IPhone now have an option they didn't have before. It anything I see this is leveling off the ability for Apple to simply consume all ...

The Google Chrome Browser is different than the Google Chrome Operating system and so speculating on the features of the OS based on the browser is irrelevant. The send link is hardly a big feature. Just copy can paste into an email. Google probably can't direct mailto: links to gmail because companies the size of google face monopoly and antitrust problems ...

While you make some interesting observations, I don't see why only the contractor who is "located halfway across the globe" should be suspected of "filching" GPL-ed code. As you state correctly, there is an incentive on the part of contractors to finish their work in less time with less effort. What I don't see why a contractor resident in your country should...

Fell back on? Interesting choice of words. I hardly think Sec. Geithner fell back on anything by reminding Rep. Brady that it took years of irresponsiblity to get the economy into the mess that it is today. Reminding Congress that it took 8 years to mess up (with their complicity) and that it is going to take more than 10 months to fix the economy is hardly ...

I have to say that given the improved security and privacy agreements offered by cloud providers, I am more positive on doing something in the cloud than I was six months ago.

"To counter the trend, O'Reilly said vendors like Google and others "must be rigorous in thinking through the benefit to the user" when it comes to developing new products, instead of focusing on how the product will enhance their competitive position."

And except for the true believers, it's not about the operating system anyway. As so many people have stated over the years, it's all about the apps. Apple demonstrates this to be true with the iPhone, Microsoft demonstrates it's true with desktop Windows, and now Google's demonstrating the truth of it with Android, with Chrome, and ultimately I think with ...
