There are spray nozzles on this thing? Should I fill the bottle with fluid? I can move my wipers by hand, but they are DEAD when I turn the dash switch...the lines do not look too old...I'll try wd 40 in the am...once I get the wipers workin....on to the heater...I suspect a bad wire from the motor under the carpet..

A brief inspection of the wiper switch tells me there are NO lines coming out of the switch...replacing those would be my first step.

intake manifold from pontiac?
Published (2009-11-23 17:46:00)
the passenger cylinder bank on the Pontiac is the forward one while both the Buick big and small block designs have the more GM typical drivers side forward. the Nailhead does share the "passenger bank forward" with the Poncho but the bore spacing is still different.

Did you have to do any other mods for clearence etc, or did you just swap out the springs and it was done? I'm looking for an easy way to drop my '52 as well.

No, you can not turn down 455 pistons to fit in a 430. Yes they are probably cam ground, among other things. If you want forged pistons you will probably need to have them custom made. Some of the aftermarket piston suppliers may have an off the shelf piston for that application. Try looking up Ross or JE or any of the other manufactures and give them a call. I would suggest looking up their ...

What are you trying to do? they are tough engines. You are more likely to break something in the drive train than the engine.

Harry,
That is a good oil and your gears will thank you for the EP ( extreme pressure) additive. Since you state you have a posi carier you should also put in the friction modifier additive that comes in a little bottle for such purposes for the cluch disk friction.

A very rough indicator is the oil fill/breathers:
oil fill/breathers on the valley cover=early engine
oil fill/breathers on the valve covers=late engine
There were running changes all year long. Best to look up your specific part in the 55 parts manual and there you will see things like 'up to engine No. xxxxxx and after engine No. yyyyyy'.

Well, I can't help you with the fit information on your wagon. Good luck with it. Where do you run in Texas?
All you need now is a good Buick engine in there.

I'm on my 3rd LeSabre, this one a 1995. Recently the airbag light came on, and stayed on. In checking fuses, the 1A fuse is OK, the 1C fuse was blown, and immediately blew again after replacement. Suggestions?

The 455 will fit, but several things are different. Motor mounts will need to be changed on the frame and mounted in different holes. Are you going to change the transmission? If you put in a TH400, then the crossmember will need to move. All of the mountings holes are in place, just have to move it all around.
This should be helpful.

The only way to tell for sure is to sonic test. You should do this anyway as there were "core shift" issues with some blocks on some of the facory machine work. This is the only way to tell how thin the walls are and what you have to work with. I have been told by nailhead gurus the better blocks (with centered bores) can be bored that far in a perfect world. Another option would be to conciously...

If you have the full wheel covers check the center plastic for loosness. It sounds silly, but I had one that drove me nuts trying to troubleshoot a front wheel noise until I found the plastic piece rattling around in there.

Its more likely that it is a used timing chain. The Buick one should be as tight as the others.

Steve, the ID codes are stamped on the top of the block on the passenger side, just in front of the valley cover.
