Some other things from the st. pete times website: Andrew Friedman "isnt even thinking" about trading Carl Crawford at this point. Both sides are still trying to get a long-term deal done. Navarro has said through his agent that he is welcome to the addition of Shoppach, and doesnt believe that he will be non-tendered The Rays probably wont acquire a closer in the offseason.

Semi-serious list of things to do this offseason:
1. Re-sign Jason Bay -- Theo won't want to go around round with Scott Bora$$ about Matt Holliday.... at least not right now, with other excellent Bora$$ clients like Daisuke Matsuzaka, JD Drew, and Jason Varitek already on the roster.
2. Pay for Papelbon's off-season vacation -- Paps is getting shipped off to Spring, TX (Josh ...

He shouldnt have been fired. I do wonder if we will stay in house for a new guy or look outside the organization( Mark McGwire possibly?)

I do believe that Hellickson and McGee are the future 8th and 9th inning guys for the Rays. But I dont think that they will be with the team this season. As for next season, right now I see the bullpen as (and in no particular order):
Lance Cormier
Randy Choate
Jesse Chavez
Ramon Ramirez
JP Howell
Dan Wheeler
Grant Balfour
However we could definately see some changes. Wheeler could ...

Defensively, I think he's best suited to 2B; he was unimpressive in hid limited time at SS, and his range would be wasted at 3B.
As far as the batting order, I agree, he'd be better suited to the 4 spot, given he's better at hitting for power than at getting on base. As silly as it is, they seem to be falling into the trap of thinking a second baseman is supposed to be a quick contact hitter ...

Jeter was a good MVP candidate but what you have to consider is Joe Mauer
lead the MLB in batting average, the most critical stat in MLB. He also
produced 20 plus home runs, was a gold glove catcher. I believe his fielder
% was higher than Jeters. The fact that Mauer, a CATCHER, could be a top
hitter is amazing. Think about what a catcher has to go through, by the end
of the game they can't even ...
