Electronics in cars, if I can't fix it with a spanner and a large hammer I don't like it. Who the hell decided it was a good idea to put computers in charge of deciding what was broke on your motor? Neither of my own cars has any electronics in. Mrs HC's does but thats a company car.

Engine to ground wont really help the dash lighting - I'm sure it doesn't pull it's earth through the engine. Battery condition is probably to blame. Just make sure the battery to ground you have put in is 100% EDIT, no hang on it will if you are going full tilt because you are pulling all power from the alt to amps, so yes doing the engine (alt housing ) to battery negative will make a difference. Sorry..

Can't see how it would be? Surely the remote only controls the output, whether it's on the amp or wired remotely?

Strong engines, can go on forever with the usual oil changes etc... can suffer from water pump failure but changing for a metal impellor type rather than the standard plastic can catch the issue before it causes any major issues. Alternator can die so would get one that's been done recently.
Worth a check on the Mondeo forum for anything else.

Welcome to the forum, turn the gain down first on the sub see if that helps also if the door speakers sound tinny that would suggest you have not deadened the doors at all? this makes a huge difference and the way they are mounted also, are they solidly mounted on a panel with no flex? on a wooden baffle?, the biggest difference you can make is in the way it is all installed then if your still ...
