How To Start A Direct To Garment...

What do I need to start out?: Hardware: First things first: you need a direct to garment printer. Next, you need a computer. You also need a heat press. These components are the basics of any direct to garment business. Software: Adobe Photoshop is more or less an essential tool in the graphic design world today. Not only will it allow you to create your own art, it will allow you to fix your customer's artwork as well. Don't worry,...

I took the class a while back in NY, in addition to the class they give you a while collection of CD's and a binder with some great info. It's a basic how-to course, but it covers just about everything you need to know to get started. I believe they offer some discounts on equipment if you attend the class, but it's not a sales-oriented course at all.

It's embedded in the driver, pick a media and you get a choice of resolutions - photo gloss paper will be very high, you often have a choice of speed vs quality. Try a few settings, can't you see any banding on the print?

Screen printing on t-shirt pocket?

The picture is definitely not screen printed (too detailed), looks like it was done on machine press.... or maybe just a graphic mock-up.

How to price your items?
Published (2009-11-20 02:16:00)
There are several factors. Take a look at what similar t-shirts are selling for, and take your target market into consideration. How much can your target market afford to spend on a t-shirt? And try to be objective. Your brand is new, existing brands are more well known. But to establish a sustainable business (if this is what you are aiming for), you should definitely take into consideration all of your costs that go into producing your...

Although you could add some things to a photo, or turn it into a vector image in Illustrator, Illustrator really does not edit the bitmap image of a photo. Photoshop is the premier software for that.

Thanks for the info. We heard the same about sealing them, and we actually applied silicone ourselves, but still seem to have the issue. Please let me know how it goes.

We use our PO BOX for billing, return/shipping and DBA addresses. We use our home address for receiving only!
We go to our PO BOX anyway to drop off shipments so we are able to pick up our mail anyway. We actually have our PO BOX in the neighboring town because there weren't any available near us and it works out better because now we can serve two towns (Google) instead of the one.

Kornit makes the claim of printing on polyester with white ink, but, from my understanding it is a very limited number of types of polyester that it will work on. Besides - a Kornit cots 6-15 times the price of an HM1-C.

I am printing dark shirts with 2 passes of underbase at 720 photo. The color is also 720 photo. The shirts are printing great the only issue is the number of prints. I set the number of copies to 1 but the printer just keeps printing the same design and will keep printing it until I turn the printer off to clear the memory. I have tried deleting the print queue and recreating it, no ...

I can say that printing CMYK only, the $.60 per shirt average is accurate. I did a job of around 1,200 shirts in the spring, and was real close to that, including the head cleans. I printed with a Vivid 2 setting.
Using white ink has been more expensive, but I've been getting more than 60 shirts out of a set of 4 cartridges. I usually print with a Medium 3 setting using the "Speed" option....

If you have a threshold tool in Corel, use that. I'm a photoshop guy so I dont know Corel, but if you set the threshold you can create black and white " outlines" like the photo you posted, which, if high enough resolution, will be traceable for the cutter.
EDIT: sorry, didn't realize you DO have the image already - Motoskin posted the solution below.

I don't know about photoshop, I use Corel. I don't see why you would want
both since Corel gives you Photopaint. I would say choose one or the other
and learn it throughly. Questions on this forum usually get answered pretty
soon, so ask away. I have never read the Corel manual though I did refer to
it a few times in the beginning. The tutorials on the Corel disk give you
some good basic ...

Why wouldnt you flip the platten so you can load and unload shirts without unscrewing. You should include micro reg on your brackets and make sure the have no play!

Just been searching around on the web and came across this - wondered whether anyone had used it or heard of it before? Products
Pricing looks good, just wondered whether it is a new ink or another re-seller of Dupont?
Have emailed them for more info, so will keep you posted if anything comes back.
Thanks
