First, the 010 transmission is a VERY good unit...the best in-house autobox VW has ever had.... they even used them in 5000 turbos, Porsche 944s, and Vanagons!. The only thing to watch out for is fluid mix, as the final drive has its own lube and can often leak gear oil into the transmission. Close watch on the fluid levels and frequent changes (easy, cheap) will eliminate that. Second, and transverse 010-equipped car should use that same...

Manual Swap
Published (2009-11-05 09:49:00)
Not needed, but it wouldn't hurt to have the injectors serviced and new nozzles installed due to the miles on your car. Send your injectors to Franko6 or drivbiwire when you do your swap. Sprint 357's or even PP357's would be a nice choice unless you're looking at bigger mods in the future.

Some people prefer the pleated filters, they are a bit hard to find sometimes, but they do give you more filter media to work with. If I had an '06+ I'd use them. Don't worry about it, no need to shout!

Don't mix biodiesel with diesel in your tank.
I can see from the postings here that a lot of people are still not aware of this. Take it as good advice. Biodiesel has higher water solubility than diesel and when the two are mixed some water may drop out of the solution. This water is normally drained from the bottom of storage tanks by professional bio producers. If ...

Frostheaters changed in 2001 I believe. 99.5-early 2001 is kit HTR1 and late 2001-2003 is HTR2. I don't know the difference between them, though.
If this is an HTR2, send me a PM and I'll take it. If it's an HTR1, does anyone know what the difference is?

I would be interested. A couple of questions, though. How is the food and drink being done? Can people attending bring something to share with the other attendees? If so, can you have beer for soaking the brats in or is that not allowed? Also, since I'm assuming this is likely a working GTG, what tools are available? Depending on how things turn out, I may put off changing my differential ...

Fuel pump let go?
There is no way a pump form any station pumped metal. IIRC, the fuel that is not used is recirculated from the filter can back to the tank. SO if the fuel pump fails, I could see that being the "generator" for this.
Bummer.
Keep us informed.

How do you propose to meter this fuel into the intake of a TDI in proportion to requested engine load? Diesel engines are very different from throttled gasoline engines in this regard.
Or do you want it to be a "binary", on/off, power adder the way a good many propane systems are?
How do you propose to ignite it? If used as a power adder, the diesel fuel will do it. If you want to use it as...

Why? Because HP dominates acceleration. But you are right that a broad torque curve is where its at. In fact, if you can hold a flat 400 lbf-ft of torque through red-line, then your doing great, because it means your HP will be awesome at high rpms. But 400 lbf-ft of torque at 1500rpm does not accelerate your vehicle at the same rate that 400 lbf-ft at 4500rpm accelerates it.
Obviously we ...
