The Gite is cool, no doubts there. The remote huts have extra appeal for me.

was up there today (Sunday) checking on trail conditions, pick up blow-downs, etc. I was suprised how much snow Cannon had compared to the top of the Kank which barely had any.
The snow was pretty crusty so I don't feel as if I was missing much. it would have been fun but I don't feel like I missed a Halloween or Easter blizzard.
It'll fill in soon it's still early!

FAHK YEAH!!!!! I logged on to the MWO website, and read this:
" Low pressure that dumped over 18" of snow on the summit will continue to pull out of New England today, bringing an end to the snowfall."
and had to come right here to see if anybody got the goods - and I was not disappointed! Way to go, natron!! NOW maybe we can get some winter goin' around here!

Here's the scoop, as far as I see it, YMMV: (if I don't include your favorite little area, I'm sorry in advance.)
Wildcat: great snow, great views, plenty of steeps, and I hear theres lots of woods tucked away around the mountain.
Attitash: has some steep stuff, has some fun stuff, but overall, the snow quality isn't that great, lots of very hard hardpack that gets overgroomed.
Bretton ...

As I sit in my bunk at Joe Dodge Lodge with the snow coming down outside - and my rock skis unfortunately 3+ hours south of here - I can say, yes, the article is definitely spot on.
Two years ago wifey and I got caught in an epic snowstorm driving up there end of March, they closed the highway, and we had to shift our vacation forward by a day. Had a great week- long stay at the Gite de ...

Sorry folks but the winter rages on somewhere where most of you are not; In Whistler. They've had their snowiest month ever. EVER! It is nuts.
I've posted a few pics and embedded a 3 minute video of the powder frenzy here;
http://www.somegood.ca/Site/Blog/Ent...r_In_Deep.h tml
I hope you enjoy and that winter comes to a neighbourhood near you soon.
cheers
