Honda's hybrids with the CVT are also a quietly well known failure point too. Even on those motors with no torque (even by Honda standards) they are still frequently failing around 60-90k miles, usually with no help from Honda to cover under warranty.

No kidding, this makes a huge difference in the looks of a car, not to mention the functionality. We did the same on my buddies 115k mile 2000 S2K and had similar results. Why people don't do this amazes me.

My Mom bought a used '09 2.5iSE with 10k a few months back...maybe has 13k now. Obviously no problems. She loves the car, and it's her first car (not SUV) in 20 years.
