Can pharmacist specialize?
Published (2009-11-19 23:21:00)
There are some specialties, including BCPS, or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist ( http://www.bpsweb.org/specialties/pharmacotherapy.cfm ), but nothing steadfast like "Orthodontist." Pharmacy as a practice in its current iteration is very new especially when compared to dentistry! From my experience in a hospital, specialists don't make a whole lot more money starting off than do standard-issue RPhs (Staff,...

Worried about 3rd and 4th year!
Published (2009-11-19 19:38:00)
You know ... something has been bothering me lately, and I'd LOVE some clarification from med students. SDN is essentially a breeding ground for catch phrases. One of the most popular phrases on SDN with regards to choosing a DO school is 'look at 3/4th year rotations,' and it is simply left at that. My question is ... why??? Is it simply because if you are in smaller outpatient clinics or moving a lot you will miss out on...

But if you disagree with the need for recertification every ten years (not sure if you do or not) then why begrudge those who are able to get away with not recertifying?
I suspect board certification will always be relevant, for better or worse.

I go to tulane and have a 3.5 overall 3.2 science im a louisiana resident. what would look better to a med school in the state a 3.5, 3.2 from tulane or a 3.7, 3.4 from lsu. Did i shoot myself in the foot by not going the easier route?

It really made me smile. If this person is on SDN congrats!! Enjoy, I hope this makes people a little bit happier during this insanely crazy and nervewracking waiting process.

I read alot about comparing different medical schools, and as Im starting to compare acceptances Im having a difficult time knowing exactly what I need to be looking for in my ideal school beyond a feeling of "fitting in."
Currently, Im aware of the information book supplied by AACOM- which supplies little information beyond what the program is like.
I have looked over the match lists for...

I applied to 3X as many progs as you, and no interviews yet. I guess I should feel 3X worse. The waiting has begun and it's not even interview season yet. I can't imagine the joy of waiting during february and early march.

In pharmacokinetics, it annoys the hell out of me when professors in their practice problems go like hepatic extraction ratio = 0.89 and blood flow = 1.22 L/min.
Then when you go to look at the lecture slides to find the formula, all you see in the formula are the abbreviations, and after like 20 minutes of digging around everywhere, you finally figure out that Q = blood flow and E = ...

I am in favor of the public option to try to help the current situation, but we need deeper reform than that. First of all, we need to detach insurance from employment. It was a product of WWII and the post-war era economy, and is now putting enormous pressure on the system and the people using it. I understand the argument that insurance can't work without pools, and large companies do provide a...

Hi everyone! I've been lurking on here for a while. A quick question: if I have received an interview in the ohio area, could I ask Ohio State to find out the decision so I wouldn't have to fly back twice. Would Ohio State let me know my decision or do they not really like that.

CONGRATS!!! I am definitely nervous now. But, not as nervous since everyone else on the site hasn't heard anything yet. Oh boy....I better not get too distracted parasitology exam tomorrow. Thanks for posting the update!!!! Personally, I like the interview forums to be separated by school so that you can get the info you want and is not so crowded. Did I mention I might be starting to panic?
