Perhaps MOE should stipulate a time frame, eg, the family must have lived in the address for at least 2 years before the child could be considered for 1 km proximity. Some people certainly had unfair advantage if they chose to buy a resale or rent a unit just months before school registration begins - and some of these people are not even citizens.

Spitting in public is an offence and it more serious if one spits in a swimming pool. Bring this to the NEA. Besides spitting, there are other hanky panky acts beneath the water. Watch out Susan!

Sad. It is MOM's stance that any maid who absconds is the sole responsibility of the employer to ensure that she is repatriated at once. Unemployment agencies will only play the passing game. My advice is if you can, do your own domestic chores. Why have an outsider to intrude into your privacy and yet this outsider is so unpredictable?

I am dismayed at the self-serving attitude of Sim Lee Keng. She expects favours from the government in return for her service as a grassroots leader. This is precisely the type of "leaders" that we don't need. Her husband contributed to the school in expectation of a favour. This is no volunteerism. I bet he is quitting his volunteer project now that his efforts has failed to secure a child a ...

HEAVY downpours caused flash floods in the Upper Bukit Timah areas, with waters reaching knee-high in some places.
