Hi. I'm a Lions fan. I hate football right now. Right now, bat attention is better than no attention. Please, pile on and make fun of the Lions. Point out every glaring inefficiency. We made a rookie quarterback look like the new Tom Brady. Have I mentioned that I hate football? Maybe I should adopt another team so when the Lions mathematically eliminate themselves (which ...

Hi everybody, i am wondering how did they build well's, i mean the ones they have on Farms or in rural areas, the hole in the Ground with a hip height round wall around it, where they lowered a bucket on a rope to get the water. I am living in the Philippines and have been told by a old Aussie Bloke that i could reach Ground water by digging a well, but i have not found any...

I've done it. Who's with me? Let's try it for, say, two weeks, and see how many Dopers rally to the presumptive Democratic nominee's colors. OBAMA '08!

From: http://whywontgodhealamputees.com/god6.htm If God answers medical prayers, then why do you need health insurance? Simply think it through. If what Jesus says about prayer in the Bible is true, and if all the stories about medical miracles in inspirational literature are true, and if the cure of Jeanna Giese is true, and if your belief in God and the power of prayer...

I will be running my first marathon this weekend, the Chicago Marathon. I would like to record the televised coverage of the event, but I'm not from Chicago, nor do I have any cable/satellite service that carries CBS2-Chicago. Can I prevail upon a PVR equipped Doper in the Chicago area to record the coverage for me? The schedule is: Live race broadcast: 7:30 - 11:00 a.m. ...

I suspect that most athiests are very intelligent people, who have a highly developed moral sense. So, probably, most people who are athiestd probably have a very low rate of criminal activity. How do they compare with religious types? Anyone have any statistics o this? I'd be curious to know what the incarceration rate for athiests is-versus religious.

As much ink has poured into pointing out how the economic disaster has benefitted Obama, it's fairly amazing to me how much better Romney (with all his baggage) would be doing if the Pubs had nominated him. Of course, no one could have known that the economy would be quite as big an issue as it is, and I'm sure Romney would have created other issues to run against him for, but ...

This was on Fark, so you guys have probably seen it, but I found it so extraordinary I didn't want anybody to miss it. In World War I, evidently they'd send people forward to sketch enemy fortifications and such, since it was more reliable than photography. This guy Len Smith was incredibly talented at it, but he was never decorated for it, didn't really tell anybody about it, ...

Just got a disc in the mail from Son #2, allegedly with tons of pictures of his recent trip to Japan. I put it in the D drive (CD player) on the computer, and there was no way I could get it to load up. Tried the two main ways that I know. Nada. Then, I noticed that the disc was actually a DVD. So, I put it in the DVD player upstairs. "Disc error." Nada. I believe he used an ...

My brother got a 1970 Triumph Bonneville this summer and it has started me jonesing for an old English bike again. When he got his it was set up as a chopper and was pretty ugly. After a bunch of work he has transformed it into a bobber style bike and looks pretty good now. I don't know if I would go that route or not, I would probably keep it more stock. I've been watching e-bay and Craig's...

So let's watch along and discuss the second presidential debate. So far, there haven't been any knock down punches, and the wins haven't been huge. Although Obama/Biden have 'won' the first 2, according to most poles. How will this one play out? Will the different format, a 'Town Hall' style play to each man's strengths or weaknesses?

Don't give me all that bullshit about how you do. Maybe if you are over 28 or so that's true, but I've been around the block long enough to see how all the jerks in the world prosper. I'm a 24 year old male. I've had 3 sexual relationships so far, and all have been with women 29+. Now that I've shared my info, I know the usual rebuttal also to my OP, "but nice guys aren't nice, they ...

Seriously, how has this idiot never been pitted before. We were subjected to years of his nearly complete inability to use ( ) properly and his posts are often nothing but repeated Urban Legends or just factually wrong. The board's motto is about “Fighting Ignorance”; well I think Ralph Wiggums here is the "Fighting Ignorant!" A recent gem: Quote:...
