Seeing how you mentioned a machete, you must have been playing Sniper. The Sniper can do 450 damage at any range by waiting 4 seconds, which isn't always necessary. I think the only game Steam sells that has an OS X version is World of Goo. Keep your eyes open around the release of Postal 3 though, it's a Source-Engine game which runs on Windows, OS X and Linux. If Steam does launch an OS X client, chances are it will be then.
