Well as for Ty's part in this her missing person could have been trying to infiltrate the ships crew to ascertain a suspicion that the captain of said ship was a slaver. Something had gone awry to the point he was captured and taken to the ship. Every person's journey to self discovery is different. Plus fifty years ago the world was a very different place than it is now. Glad she has reached the point where she is comfortable enough with her own skin to tell the world, and she has the support to do it... trust me, that step is much huger than most realize.
