Network Problems Killing my BTV...
Published (2009-12-04 01:44:00)
It seems like things have changed, mostly for the better, but there's still issues. Before when the Link PC crapped out, the server had been affected as well. Now that doesn't seem like the case. I started watching an HD recording of Fringe. I got maybe halfway through when it started up with the problems. This time I just closed Link and opened it again and it was back to normal. It lasted that way for maybe 5 minutes, then started...

I don't use live tv myself. The closest to that would be when I'm watching a sporting event "time shifted". Where I start watching an "in progress" show a half hour or so after it's started recording. Then I can use the jump ahead key on my remote to skip the commercials. I keep doing that and usually by the time the event is almost over, I'm caught up to real time. It compresses the...

OK, this is a long shot, but what happens when you disconnect the router from the internet. Just wanted to make sure you don't have a lot of unexpected traffic coming in from the outside.

No up button
Published (2009-12-04 16:21:00)
I have tried everything that I can think of. Reinstalled FF Changed channels Replaced the FF folder with a working folder (from my other BTV box) But nothing will get the up button to work. Everything else works, but the only way to scroll up the list of recordings or channels in Viewscape is to scroll all the way to the bottom and keep going which takes me back to the top of the list. This really sucks with a long list of recordings. The only...

I don't use VBR but I did up my bitrates to 10000 and 12000 for 720p and 1080i, respectively. My STB's are set to 720p output and at the default I could see some graininess in the video. Bumping it up corrected the problem, and I don't really care if the files are bigger or not.

Experienced exactly the same thing for a little over a month now. Have attempted same remedies without effect.
Is this a common issue?
Is it the result of software update incompatibility?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I had a similar experience, really messed me up trying to figure out why. I moved my HDHR's onto a different switch. A Rosewill that was basically new, gigabit 8 port. My recordings were failing, but not all the time, and not for a few weeks as it appeared to work fine. Coincidentally I purchased a second HDHR too when the problems blew up. My copies across the network from one GB pc to ...

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed here, but I'm not sure how to sell my BTV software. I'm not using it anymore and don't need it. I was going to post it on ebay, but is there something I need to do with the license?
Thanks for any help you can give...I'm pretty clueless! I just don't want to sell to someone and then have them not be able to use it.

Well, looks like the gold is coming out.
Ok, other threads have covered this, but here's my summary. I had a c1 version that eventually became unstable so I RMA'd it. I got an E1 as a replacement. This needs the 1.05.2 driver to work, if you use an older driver with btv you need to reboot the tuner for each recording job or livetv. I wonder if the interaction with SS contributed to this driver...

Couple of questions:
1) How does the TV look when playing content directly from your DISH box?
2) Was this BTV installation hooked to a TV before, what kind (HD or SD?) and how did that look?
3) Your source is analog from the PVR 150, but it should be acceptable in playback. Have you tried playing a DVD through the system to see if improving the source clears up the picture?
I would try...

Hey, you finally dove into the deep end. It sounds like you have everything setup right in BTV. Did you hook up both DTAs using a combiner? I used only one DTA for awhile until I got a combiner that worked. I only added one of the PVR tuners in BTV. I spit the output of the DTA so I could connect to a TV and the PVR for debug.

This has nothing to do with Windows 7. SD will record to Mpeg. HD will ONLY record to TP.

Keep in mind that you can only use any two of those at the same time.
Maybe that has something to do with it?

Yeah, makes no sense. Try updating your drivers.

I can't answer your Divx question, but, as an aside, if Silverlight works on his PC he can watch the programs from a remote location. Silver light transcodes on the fly to windows media to stream my .mpg, and .tp files remotely.

1. Do you have automatic Updates enabled? Not a good thing to do.
2. Check the Hardware Manager to see if the IR Receiver is functioning.
3. You may need to reinstall the Hauppauge drivers.
4. What OS are you running?
And yes, it could have gone bad.
If there is an error in the Harware Manager for the IR device, then I would try deleting it from the manager and have ...

Do you have a large library of shows? Are all the folders local, or are they on networked drives. I believe either of those conditions can cause a delay in your BTV start up.
