I'm looking for a one day cooking class in Rome. Has anyone here taken the one day cooking class at Fontana del Papa? The town and class sounds incredibly lovely, it would be nice to see the countryside, but I'm wondering if it would be worth the train ride from/back into the city where we are staying. Is the train safe for two women late night? I also noticed a class with Daniela de Balzo ...

Calling all Rijeka experts. I am trying to locate the house where my mother grew up a longgggg time ago. It was on Buonarroti, I tried searching maps etc to no avail. Does anyone know if this road still exists? I'm travelling there in June and would love to find it. She lived in a building called Casa Navi, but I doubt it would still be there.

Hi, Unfortunately I don't know about Easter in Puglia, I've not actually visited that time of year ... yet! However, I know a man who probably does. My colleague's living in Galatina and I'll drop him a line and see if he has any information. I guess you want to be somewhere with some real atmoshphere even out of season, i.e not too touristy and with a high local population. Ostuni would be ...

My 50th birthday is November 18th and I'd like to spend it in Italy, but I understand that November is very rainy. Can you give some advice on where I can go or where I should stay away from due to rain. Should it even be a problem?

Hi We are a family of 4 planning a six month sabbatical in/near Aix-en-Provence in 2009. Our children (10 and 8) will likely attend an international school just south of Aix in Luynes. We would like to try to rent housing that is near to where other families live so that the kids can have a chance to interact with French kids their age. Ideally we want a detached house, or at least not an ...

Does the city clear out or is it still active? How common would parking spaces be with longer term rentals? Interesting parts of the city to consider renting in? Big question. How common is English? My German is limited to hefe weizen and Dunkel. Thanks

I've been keeping my eye on the new T Mobile G1 phone to replace my aging Razor phone. If you haven't seen it, it's supposed to be a fairly serious competitor to the popular iPhone. In addition to many of the same features it also has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and removable battery, etc. It runs on Google's new "Android" operating system, which not only seamlessly integrates with your Google ...

I booked my rental car back in april for my trip to Italy in 3 weeks... I did this specifically because I wanted best pick of cars. I don't drive stick, so, I needed an automatic.. and I wanted a hybrid seeing as though gas in Italy is about $8.00 a gallon right now.. I had a midsize hybrid booked with Hertz.. confirmed for $331.00 euro for the week.. very good rate! Well.. last week I called...

Hi, I am a slow food member in the states and bought the slow food guide to Italy to plan my first trip there with my husband (our honeymoon). Actually, this is my first big trip I've planned, anywhere! I have come up with a rough itinerary, and I was hoping to get some thoughts/suggestions from all you more advanced travellers. Any and all criticisms/suggestions/questions are welcome. I'm a ...

We arrived yesterday finally to claim my Slow Trav prize from 2006 -- a week at beautiful Villa Trotta in Perdifumo, near the Cilento coast. When we got here, the rain was pouring and the winds were howling. But the winds blew away the clouds overnight, and below (if I succeed in uploading the photo) is the view from our bedroom terrace this morning. Straight ahead you can see Capri, and the ...
