Updating hotel review

Last year I did a review of the Marriott Courtyard hotel in Fiumicino. I believe I have changed my mind re this hotel. Is it possible to update the review?

Another - very much unmarked - Marais landmark: 17 rue Beautreillis, where Jim Morrison died. After having (a delightful) lunch chez Justtravel, we walked by this address and marveled at the beautiful bourgeois building. Just saw on French tv an interesting documentary on the last day of JM. But I understand why the building does not have a plaque. I mean, the racket in Père Lachaise ! Imagine that for generations your family is buried in...

Camera Choice
Published (2009-11-09 13:00:00)
Jane, I was just looking through the reviews on Amazon for the Canon S90, and saw this one comparing the S90 and a similar Sony. Girasoli, one of the other reviews said that there was no noticeable shutter lag, once you had focused the camera. I am not ready to buy a new camera right now, but I am definitely keeping my eye on this one! I am thinking that maybe after Christmas the prices will come down. - Roz

A detail from the ornamental fountain in the forecourt of Edinburgh's Holyrood Palace. The fountain was commissioned by Queen Victoria, and patterned on the design of an earlier fountain at nearby Linlithgow Palace. I was charmed by the life and energy of these two whimsical characters.

It could be a wide variety of issues - overheating, bad driver, virus, spyware, bad memory, etc. Also you may want to check and see if you can find any clues in the event log. I would first do a virus scan and also a spyware just for good measure. Next I would verify that the it is not overheating (Is the fan working? Is it dirty?). Third, check the event log to see if there are any clues. The event log will be pretty cryptic but it may point...

Hi Kathy, All subways go to the Financial District, so getting around will not be a problem, even after at night. The only problem with the area is the lack of restaurants, but that is balanced with the close proximity with Century 21 for shopping. Regards, sheryl

Yes, that one surely would make you keep bits and pieces of you inside. The first phrase I learned (1977) was "Dove il gabinetto?" Now, we don't use that word, it seems. So, I was charmed last year, to spot the sign in the background. It was only later that I saw I was getting the look that could kill from the polfer!

We rented a smaller cottage in Chipping Campden for two weeks last summer, from Campden Cottages, who also lists Blakeman's House. I think Chipping Campden is a great base in the Cotswolds, and several members have had good experience with Campden Cottages agency. I'm sure you've seen our reviews reviews for that part of England here? I think the cottage looks great, spacious and modern, ...

I have never attempted the connection you've described. But I can't imagine that you would make it. Even a few minutes late in your arrival would impact this. Then there's the line for passports, then the trip on foot to the train station, then a possible line there. If it were me, I'd relax and just wait for the next train. Too much stress! On the other hand, if you want to give it a try, ask ...

Thanks for all the input and advice! NOw what I need to do is to figure out how to best handle the photo situation while we're on our cruise. My original plan was to use my old digital camera to make short videos and just keep them all on the memory cards rather than putting them onto the computer since they take up so much space. I then wanted to use the new camera (10 megapixels) for ...

Any one of those cities are great destinations. I do love Parma, though, It seems to have all the sophistication of Milan on a much smaller scale. The museum, in the Palazzo della Pilotta, is first-rate, and beautifully laid out. It has a very modern feeling in a very old building and even a Leonardo painting among it's treasures. The Correggio frescos in the duomo, camera di S. Paolo, and San ...

If you are using public transport (and, probably, even if you aren't!) , you are staying in far too many places for only two nights. It will take you more than half a day to actually get to and settle into the new place. I'd advise you to choose just one town for 5 - 7 nights and make trips out from there. This way you can get to know one place a bit better, become a regular at a bar/...

Not sure where Carpediem is (in relation to Termini in roma) but I'd strongly suggest the train -- over driving -- for a day trip to Florence.

There have been several discussions on this board about the Dordogne. Here is a good one from a few years ago. Someone on it recommended drawing a semi-circle to the west from Sarlat, but didn't say how far. We're planning to go to the Dordogne for the first time next spring. I've just requested a booking for one week at La Prairie in France , at their Byre property. I hope it is as ...

So we can help you better, where have you been in Italy besides Rome? What kind of art or architecture, what periods of history do you like best? I'd also love to hear what made your Rome trip so fabulous! Lots of wonderful memories for you! Ciao, Margaret

A "varco" is the camera controlled gateway to the ZTL in Rome and Florence.....and I believe it is also used the word for a turnstile or entrance to a stadium or theater.

I would leave Ct out. Rome, Venice and Florence is plenty. No need to rent a car if you stick to this itinerary. Fly in to Venice, train to Florence, train to Rome. Open Jaw, into one city out another is not necessarily more expensive. RR
