I consider slow food the godmother of slow travel. Thank you, Alessandra. Like most fellow posters, I enjoy this thread very much although I don't "do" all and may not even agree to all. The word commandment is indeed loaded. It is not so much elitist as it rings didactic. But the text is amusing and thought-provoking, well, for most of us.

France Photohunt #24 - Arch
Published (2009-11-24 19:33:00)
I'm really enjoying this thread. Here are the lovely arches of the Russian Orthodox chapel in the old cemetery above Vieux Menton. Many members of the Russian royalty lived in Menton in the late 1800's and are buried in the cemetery.

I love the place as well.We decided against staying in the Valier apartment(tiepolo taken) as it was only afew Euro cheaper than a very nice room at the Hotel Galleria. I'm not sure if she jacked up the rates due to the Regatta Storica or if rates are just up 40-50% since our stay last year. RR

Sharon - do you mean the 2CV (Deux Chevaux) tours? I did find this site , which may be what you are thinking of. Don't know anything about them, but that could really be fun. Or you could try two wheeling it on a Segway tour. Judy

We rented a smaller cottage in Chipping Campden for two weeks last summer, from Campden Cottages, who also lists Blakeman's House. I think Chipping Campden is a great base in the Cotswolds, and several members have had good experience with Campden Cottages agency. I'm sure you've seen our reviews reviews for that part of England here? I think the cottage looks great, spacious and modern, ...

Jeff Absolutely stacks of choice, so you've got a choice of drivers: a) Let your favourite wineries guide you to the region the wine is made in e.g. Chianti, Valpolicella, Barolo, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano etc. b) Choose the region that appeals most and then discover the local wine scene. This might be Emilia-Romagna for Lambrusco, Colli Bolognesi, etc. or Rome for Frascati, Est!Est!!Est!!!, ...

Good luck ---- Last month I spent a week in Rome and then spent nearly a week in Lecce, with a couple of days in Matera in between. I drove from Rome to Matera, then to Lecce. Getting there is not difficult; however parking in those towns is impossible. Anyway --- as I didn't want to drive back to Rome (I was flying home from Rome) I looked into various train combinations, but I found they ...

I've never seen anything that small. I have seen the various griddles to make torta al testo, but I don't know what they're called. I'm sure our Italian friends - who aren't busy with Thanksgiving dinner today! - will have an answer!

My sister & I ate there last week....it's a must-go-to everytime I'm in Venice. The pumpkin flan with asiago and pine nuts is terrific...it's rich so share it. I'm not a vegetarian but I could become one if I ate at LaZucca regularly. All their vegetable sides are divine....sometimes I make a meal outta them! You can't go wrong at LaZucca.

All your destinations look good. I personally especially like your giving time to the markets. I have a few minor suggestions: - You are an art lover and have done your research. Remember: the art treasure in Florence is rich and dense. Stendhal's syndrome is no myth. The whole art impact can be overwhelming. You may find yourself needing a longer time to take it in. (Or you may get the ...

Depends on how the data is stored. If it's not much an USB key can be the simplest. Or if you have a network that's an option but it requires you know how to setup the network. If you don't have a massive amount I'd consider the key. Save the things you want to the key then plug the key into the new computer.
