I'm betting on .008" Delrin spokes, cast under zero pre-tension. I would worry about the outer rim vibrating relative to the hub, however, under cornering forces (assuming Ortmann gray urethane levels of grip). As for the wheel snapping like a Scalextric wire wheel, I'm not betting on it. Delrin is really tough stuff. Meanwhile, my Bentley is sitting there with 1/24 Mille Miglia cast mag dish wheels, and some forgotten...

Carrera--Enzo Ferrari
Published (2009-11-22 14:56:00)
I have a Carrera Enzo Ferrari that I want to use on a fast wood track (108'/33M) copper tape and we only run at 10.3Vdc. Since the Carrera is set up to run at 14Vdc I though about carefully removing the motor and al and replacing it with a Slot.It (my major inventory of parts) with one of the Stock V12/2, 25K motors that come out of the Stock White kits. Replaceng the rear tires with SCC 1403YD urethanes... IS anyone racing this car on a...

What about a stronger spoke? I'm betting that the x-section of the spokes is circular, but what if the spokes had an elliptical x-section, or a x-section that is 'finned' -- a cylinder with a single fin pointed away from the wheel's face (toward the chassis)?

What about five or six carefully placed relatively thick photoetched metal spokes, painted black, on the inside of the wheel?

It's really too bad that the new SSD powerbase isn't available, as it would solve all the problems that wanting to run digital and analog on the same layout (though not at the same time) presents.
The other option is an old SSD 6 car powerbase upgraded to PB-Pro S-H A, aka Powerbase Pro with Simple-H and 2 Lane Analog upgrades. You might be able to get 2 lane Analog without Simple-H, but ...

Nice present. If they are young kids you may want to move that crossover piece closer to the edge so the cars would be easier to reach.. Can't wait to see the completed project.

Scott, my 65 foot Scaley Sport is filled with trees, over 100 of them. I have made them all from kits. They range from tall pines down the long straight to large and small Oaks. There are also a few with fall colors. A garage area, two grandstands, a small park with a lake, and a few fences made with gutter guard and wire round it out. Oh, lots of rocks made from rock molds and some grass too.

age old question, is it the car or the driver?
I'll tell you what.. spoonhead couldn't win 7 titles in a Minardi could he?
no question that jimmie has the best equipment/team but it also takes a lot of talent to be the best in any sport.
as far the " left turn" only, Montoya's proven that it's much harder than it looks.

Have seen a G. Hill Gold Leaf livery Scalex offered on ebay several times from Spain and just recently from Australia. Supposedly a 1500 unit limited edition. Not seen this side of either pond. Wonder if it's a tobacco related issue.

hehe, that depends on who you ask.
IMHO, the "old slotters" are very much set in their ways and unlikely to move to digital. They'd rather spend $100 on a nice analog car than $70 on a good one plus $15 on a chip. They'd also rather just drive their lane than worry about who's in front, or coming up behind, or changing lanes and taking pit stops. I realize that's a generalization and lots of ...
