I don't think more people joining the work pool causing unemployment to jump was a well guarded secret. I posted this back in July.... and Obama has been a broken record on unemployment hitting double digits this year for months. Back then I was showing how the drop in unemployment in that month was due to a large number of people giving up and that those people would have to be accounted for latter when they rejoin the workpool. That...

Down with cars! Except the big polluting trucks that deliver my MacBook to the Apple Store, and coffee beans to the Starbucks.

Hyatt or Hilton would both be welcome additions. Also there is an article in the P-R today about the Mardi Gras Park land. The county comission asked the city to clarify a time frame that they would raise the funds to build the park. The old contract basically said the city had all eternity to raise moeny for the park. The new agreement says the city has four years to raise the money after ...

Newfoundland would become it's own independent country before they ever join another state.
Personally, I would love to see it happen, but not within the context of Canada. IF all of the Maritimes provinces would join together (PEI, NS, NB), then I would like them to join together as a sovereign state rather than as a province of Canada. If we joined as a province under Canada we would...

What's interesting about 8 Mile Road is its incredibly cross-jurisdictional. It crosses numerous cities and counties, not to mention a state route. I think your idea is a good one actually, and there are alot of great efforts underway to improve the image of this thoroughfare as well as encourage more business. Check out the Eight Mile Boulevard Association
