My PPP is autoimmune and so is psoriasis. When the key is found that opens the box on autoimmune conditions, everything will fall into place. And it is getting closer. JMO Jane

Out of betnovate :(
Published (2009-11-30 11:32:00)
I too have used Betnovate for many years and received strict instructions not to use it on sensitive skin areas (such as the face - I have hydrocortisone for those) - but this liver damage info is new to me and has certainly never been mentioned by my GP whenever I've asked for a repeat prescription Do you have any links to info you can share? * andyb goes off to investigate further...

Quote from: Elisa on Tuesday November 24, 2009, 06:03:39 PM Dear All, Some good news:(touch wood). I was diagnosed with Grover's almost a year ago. It has gone. With no medication, only flower cream treatment, almost a year later it has 99% disappeared! Please pray for me that this will now not return with vengeance! I did a big work out at the gym this morning, yesterday morning and...

I'm with itchychick, you need a second opinion. To be honest, it sounds like your doctor is a moron. The only thing I can think of is if you are using that on your face a lot, then maybe the doctor would cut you off. Especially if he thinks he notices signs of skin atrophy on your face. But other than that, there isn't any good reason for the doctor to not keep refilling your prescription....

I recommend you get a second opinion, but do not ignore your first doctor's advice! Regardless of what he says, I'm pretty sure he does have some valid points. As for liver damage, I for one believe that it is real. I've seen clips of a major eczema patient at the age of 70+ suffering from liver damage after extensive usage of steroid-based creams. I honestly say that I cannot understand your frustrations since...

Hi, Thanks to all for replying I have two specialists one is prof Wojnarowska who I have seen mentioned on here. She is a very good doctor although, have only seen her twice since I was little and she feels there is little she can do for me any more. My local specialist also just seems happy, last time I saw him I had 15 blisters in three months between visits and he thought it was excellent!! I am currently taking oxytetracyline and...

Grover's disease
Published (2009-12-01 19:52:00)
Geraldine, Yes, Grovers. I've had it for 4-5 years. I was in the hospital with diverticulitis when it hit. It was on my left leg and so itchy I blamed the nurses for having a spider in my bed. But then it spread all over my body before settling in to mostly my stomach, chest and back. I get some spots on my arms and legs as well. TomA

Quote from: Bamawing on Saturday November 28, 2009, 01:09:14 AM That does sound odd. But going to the docs is the best, sure enough. And thinking positive in the meantime also sounds like a good idea. And now you've got some peeps at Skincell crossing their fingers for ya. Let us know how it goes, OK? Thanks Bamawing for your kind words. and thanks to skincell.org for putting my mind at rest a littl. I will defo reply to you all...

Hi John, The question is what you mean when you say "surgery." As far as I know, there are three main types of surgery used to "treat" HS. The first is a first aid treatment, the incision and drainage of a lesion ("lancing"). Depending on the size of the abscess and amount of buildup inside it, a tube may need to be placed for a bit. The second is excision, where the surgeon removes ...

Hi Jeff and welcome to skincell. I don't know much about your conditions but I have taken Plaquenil which I think is the medication you are talking about. It is usually well tolerated and the side effects are usually rare and few. You do have to get your eyes tested but it is no big deal. I did have a rare reaction from it. I had a spider vein treatment which, because of the ...

Quote from: SouthernGirl on Sunday April 13, 2008, 04:55:10 AM I wanted to second the hugs to everyone suffering from this miserable condition. I haven't been officially diagnosed by a dr. yet, but I know this is what I have. I'm trying to muster up the courage to go have someone look at mine so I can get meds or something. I'm so humiliated, I don't want to have the exam. This is ...

Hello all, I've read with great interest through this thread as I too have (had) Grovers Disease since 2004. One theory is it's caused by the sweat glands which is a theory I subscribe to. My Grovers appeared after I had lived in Thailand for six months in '04 working predominately outdoors where I was always hot and sweaty. I am a 52 year old white male where I am otherwise in excellent shape ...

Hi jimmyjack, welcome to the forum. Why won't your doctor prescribe more betnovate? It's a relatively mild steroid, so this seems a little surprising. Perhaps you could get another opinion?
