I'm asking because I was interviewed by our local newspaper re: the release of "New Moon" and I found myself commenting a lot about the rules and how they have been broken more and more lately and how vampires seem to have been turned into superheroes (practically). I think the basic problem there, Mark, is that most of the vampire fiction...

How do you sort your book library?
Published (2009-11-26 02:06:38)
I sort alphabetically but not by genre. I have fiction, then non fiction sorted by sort of a vague idea of what goes with what. I have tried to leave space but inevitably I end up with more books than space. I now have all bookcases full, a sort of a bin next to my bed, which is also packed and assorted piles of book which have no home. I don't know how helpful this in but I suppose you can learn from my mistakes and be more disciplined....

I don't know whgere you are but if there is an Ikea near you I have seen them there approx 8 or 9 ft tall. They even have the sweet ladder. Anything taller and I imagine you may need to go custom. I have always dreamed of building bookshelves into the walls so I could smoke pipes and what not while perusing my leatherbound copy of Goethe...or something like that.

Do what pleases you. I don't know if there will be a consensus. I sort by genre, then by author (alphabetically). I get what you mean about trim sizes -- the shelves just look more pleasing when the books are close to the same height. I don't have many paperbacks so that's not an issue. Oversize books are kept in a metal bin. Think trashcan, only it's not a trashcan -- it's a ...

It's a solid effort, Paul, and even more moving if you dig animals (we all know Dean digs animals). I really enjoyed how it bopped and weaved between four separate characters before all drawing together. An interesting mix of elements.

I have gone shopping on Black Friday and probably will this year. For me, it's more about the traditional post shopping lunch which usually includes a marguerita or two. You need 'em after dealing with all that craziness. Plus you get to hear some really funny conversations while you're waiting in line for an hour to save fifty cents Martel
