A lot of models!
Published (2009-11-22 23:02:00)
Hello, I received a lot of models this week. Here is a global first picture: I will spoke of the Frankenstein prototypes and the Euro-ring later, in seperate posts (I have a lot of pictures). For now let have a look at the Inclusions : It is a tetrahedron surrounding an octahedron surrounding an icosahedron. It is wireframed (so that you can see what is inside ). These polyhedron are sharing their triangular faces: - 8 of the 20 faces of the...

joris wrote on Tue, 24 November 2009 12:35 The volume between both does differ by the way one is 0.88 the other 0.92. But, I know what your issue is now. When you set up a Co-Creator template it asks you to input the maximum volume for the Creator. This is the largest size that you would expect it to be. The price is then made in accordance with this volume you set. So the price difference in your model is due to this. It takes the...

Brass. Jewelry is a huge hit on SW. We need a golden material. Gold is out of the question. Brass is it. Ceramic. I want to print out radiolarians , some of the finest 3D designs ever not designed, and a white ceramic would probably have other takers as well. How many gift shops are filled with bone-white gorgeous sculptures? We should be competing there. Wood. Preferably teak, but I would settle for a nice old-growth oak.

Indeed, this smooth only does "normal interpolation" and do not change the actual 3D shape. To have a better visual feel of the 3D printed result, only "Set Solid" should be set, and "Auto Smooth" disabled too (only applied during rendering anyway).
For real 3D smoothing, apply the SubSurf modifier : http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Manual/Model ling/Meshe s/Subdivision_Surfaces

Now a days you can print your photos in great quality on your own desktop printer at home, order them as a fully printed and bounded photo album or have them printed in any size on canvas to hang on your wall.
So how cool would it actually be if you could get your photo printed in 3d to put on your desk, hang on your wall or in front of your window…?

Hi Mamélie !
1. Do you need the dice with sharp edges and corners like here
or with rounded corners like here?
2. 3x3x3 is it in cm?
3. do you want it hollow (this helps to reduce the price). For example, solid (not hollow) 3cm dice will cost about $45 to print, while the dice hollow inside will cost $22 (assuming that it has 3mm thick walls).
Sorry, for lots ...

Berky,
We lower prices, don't increase them.
The only thing that I can think of is that you were logged out: looked at the price and it was less and later logged in. When you're logged in inside the EU VAT is added to all the models.
But, this would only be 20% so that is weird.
Could you send me the links to the models?

Is $100 per model in your budget?
Kinzcove wrote on Sun, 22 November 2009 15:38 Hello all,
I'm KinzCove, I haven't been that much active in the Shapeways community, mostly since I'm not the best modeler out there, I really dont know how to that much, but for nearly 3 years I've been asking various people to help me with one thing, recreating a female periwig in lego.

Hi all,
I received my very first Stanless Steel prints. And I have to say that I am very happy with the results.
These two models are wireframed and the diameter of the thread is 2 mm.
The Brunnian Pendant is a smaller version of the Brunnian Circles . Even though the diameter is 2 mm, the clearance between the thread is still 1 mm as for the original version, because I was ...

Launch is ok.
Then I guess I clicked too fast the 3) and 4) buttons, as i could not go back to either 1) or 2) : the buttons flashed but did not want to unfold. And no way to restart from scratch without closing and relauching the app : step 4 should have a "cancel/restart" button.
A second try was ok. Great to highlight the problematic parts within the text, very nice. Too bad there ...
