I would say this is a liberty issue. Paul said all things are lawful yet all things not profitable. etc etc. Tell the kids about the real Santa. Then relax and enjoy the holiday put up the pretty lights and relax. DO NOT put a stumbling block of legalism on Christmas. To the world we are already pecuilar enough. Lets not add stuff thats really not a big deal. Again, thats just my take on one who has "been there done that."...

Ironically, Jesse Morrell would have been allowed to preach on the University property if he had filed a request. Public universities have "free speech" areas that are designated for such activity. If he wanted to do so, Jesse could have easily obtained permission to do so. Jesse Morrell has no more of a legal "right" to preach anywhere on a public college campus than a Muslim cleric has a "right" to preach on a...

Anger / Hatred of God
Published (2009-11-29 22:06:00)
How do reformed theologians resolve the tension that exists between the sovereign grace of God, and the holy hatred / indignation / anger / wrath of God? If all men are truly depraved and wicked, all men equally deserve hell. I understand this and I agree with this completely. But throughout Scripture, God reveals His anger towards several nations for debauchery / immorality, as well as Israel for falling away from Him and not keeping His...

The engagement ring is a deeply symbolic gift, and I believe anybody buying one should put a lot of thought into, and spend as much as they can reasonably afford. No doubt, it is a "vanity." But, with that said, "all is vanity." And being that we all do vain things in this life, I think one should make this "vanity" really count for something. _________________ I Am A Disciple - ...

I believe Charles Wesley here was alluding to Christ leaving the abode of glory and majesty He shared with His Father before the world began, only to come to wicked earth and take on the lowly form of man with all his limitations (i.e. hunger, thirst, pain, fatique). Big Deal! I remember my Dad used to have such hang ups at Christmas. Every Christmas was a miserable time of the year because of his miserable convictions that he pushed on us. Now that he's dead, we have the full regalia and enjoy it all giving thanks to our LORD for a fun filled time of the year. John the Baptist liked them (well, locusts) with honey (Matthew 3:4 and Mark 1:6). Of course, he also liked clothing made from camel hair (which might have been a bit prickly and abrasive, if you ask me). Me?
