Nice! Clever reply. I have lost any credibilty for your posts. Even though you work for my Alma Mater. Don't know why you're picking a fight. Your point? My only point is that this forum confuses Noobs by combining DIR What is DIR? - ScubaBoard , Equipment Configuration | Global Underwater Explorers and "tec" gear. And you are promulgating it. You side mount, yes? I have nothing against DIR. In fact I subcribe to...

Watched the HD broadcast of Turandot from the Metropolitan Opera today. Puccini's last opera. I've been to his house, btw. For those of you who know the story, you may wonder why THAT story would make me happy. Tragedies can sometimes parallel and validate our lives. This one also explains a few things about men that I didn't know before (just WHAT were you thinking Calaf?), and it was beautiful on all levels. Quote: Originally...

Don't forget the Rhinopias and Mototi! November was good but I thought the end of Feb start of March was the best. How do you like the new camera compared to the old one?

Drysuit class worth it or not?
Published (2009-11-07 08:25:00)
I am starting to dive dry myself, but haven't taken the course. I am on the fence. Any other opinions out there on the dry suit course? If I do take it, my local LDS is a NAUI shop...if that makes a difference (vs. PADI).

Thanks for bringing back this thread....I remember the day I originally posted. Here's an update. Since getting my drysuit cert, not sure how many dives I've done, but the first 10-15 were somewhat of a challenge. Now, it's 2nd nature and I dive nothing but dry except for when I go to the islands. My first drysuit was a crushed neoprene. I liked it, but the shoulders were a little tight. Very warm suit, but did have to add a...

Much better pics....Did Hairball II and Nudi Retreat saw a long armed octo and some tiny pipefish that I thought was debris falling from above.....nothing special on either dive. Two Lembeh divers lodge boats came and parked on our sites while were were diving.....one had one diver one DM...the other a couple of divers.

Depend on the diving. If I'm on a trip I will just clean it at the end of the trip. If it's just a weekend dive I will clean it with the rest of my gear when I get home. If I haven't used it I just unroll it, soak it with my other gear, let it dry and roll it back up. If I use it or a lift bag I will make sure to drain any water after the dive and roll it back up.

Any and all.
Basic exposure protections is anything from a skin to a drysuit. anything more than a 5/4mm suit and I am diving dry. I have both a whites and Dive Rite drysuit. I use either Jets, Turtles or quattros with the quattros as my preffered fins. (though with a couple stage bottles - the jets are the best choice)
Normally for backmount it a simply BP with a 55lb wing, double ...

I have been looking into this as well. I have talked to several com. divers and they have all told me to find the cheapest school and go there. There is young memorial which is a louisiana technical school and is the cheapest. You will work as a tender for a few years then "break out" and be a diver which takes 2-3 years depending on the outfit. check out www.offshorediver.com there is alot of...

I usually use 5mm gloves when diving cold,
Bolt snap: I find them okay, but they spin a little too easy-especially when snapping them on a d-ring. A small loop of cave line by the swivel helps.
Butterfly: Easier to clip on a d-ring, you dont necessarily need to hold it open, but the brass one's get gummy after a while and are hard to use.
Never used/liked trigger snaps, IMHO the ...

Good luck! Been on a few dives with folks that were sick, they made it OK. But, first rule of cool. Cool enough to quit, is cooler than died doing it.

First thing to try is slow down your descent to around 30-40 fpm and slow your ascent to 20-30 fpm. Also, what is your position as you ascend? While you don't notice any problems with pressure equalization in your ears, your inner ear and especially your Semi=circular canals which are your main source of position input for your brain.
A lot folk folks who ascend vertically and are lookng ...

Which has more air at 14.7 PSI? Your house or the Superdome? The Superdome has a greater volume, so it holds more air. Regardless of the pressure, a larger vessel will hold more air than a smaller vessel, at the same pressure.
To clarify, at equal pressures, the larger tank holds more air.
I'm sure most here will verify this. If your instructor has an issue with this, I suggest he post ...

If you have 1000+ dives, you have to know about Malaysian wombat guana. Smear it on and sharks won't come within 3.4 meters.
So, since you're not a diver, why are you posting this goofy s**t on the forum? I'm a dork, but I'm here to actually learn and meet fellow divers.
