I'm kind of in step with John. I had 30" which was frequently too short. I expanded to 40" by shifting the Bies tube and now rarely need more. It will depend what you do. Again, like John (sorry John ) I use very little sheet goods so it is no big deal for me to break a sheet down with a circular saw and finish up on the table. All that being said, I would have the longest I could fit without cramping myself out of some...

Jim - that tutorial covers everything you need to know. As far as quality of parts - you'll have to look around and see what is available but most of what I have seen (and used) have been really cheap stamped out stuff. Course, you could always use an old lamp and recycle the parts from it...

Hi Scott, the information I've been able to find suggests that spending is going up in step with inflation and/or our GDP. It's still about half the cost of the American system per capita, if I remember correctly. As another Canadian said, we've been claiming that it's been going broke for decades, however it obviously isn't. Regards, Rod.

50 what ? Is the speed in terms of ips? Is it some arbitrary value Kern has chosen? Same question for power... is it in terms of average power in Watts, is it a percentage of the max power, etc.

The one I liked was the electric "scrubber" that was a hot item a few years ago. My wife bought one for herself and several for family members' Christmas presents. I am not sure if I will see one used in my life time. Haven't so far. She makes the same claim about my woodworking tools BTW!

For dewaxed orange, garnet, etc, you may need to go to flakes and mix your own. Flakes keep a long time (esp...

Legality notwithstanding, There are a couple ways to skin the cat. If you are not concerned with clarity or preserving the grain, then a good paint is probably the best way to go. Perhaps one with an acrylic or urethane resin for some amount of durability. A regular latex will just chip in short order. If you want the wood to show through, then I'd go with an aniline dye like Transtint. These will not fade as much as other solvent-based...

The same with me.
I have Epilog Legend Ext. 75 W, and the tube of this has broken twice.
We all know that the same laser tube is quite common in many different laser marks.
But still it's a pity, that laser tube is said to last more than 10000 hours when the truth is that it stands only about 1000 hours.
I should have taken better prices for engraving and laser cutting.
Or we should ...

Alas, in store only. The 15% off isn't applicable to web sales and even though I was able to put the jawhorse in my cart, I can't seem to get to my cart unless I go to the online sales part of the site which won't show any items in my cart and the jawhorse isn't listed for online sales.

No experience but can you get small pneumatic tires? I would think mower tires would damage the floor, too. They are pretty hard.

Nothing better than the handcut dovetail! I cheat a little by clamping a block of hardwood to my dovetail saw at the exact depth I need for the cuts. Rather than sawing down to the line, I make my marks, layout my pins, scribe my tails and start cutting away. As for the dovetail chisels, I'm always partial to the Lie-Nielsen handtools, mine take and hold a fine edge and the smooth grind on the...

I am curious as well. When ever the health care debate comes up around here all I here from the other side is how BAD canadians have it. They wait in lines, cannot get proper care because the back log in the system, blah blah blah. Tells us how it is. What is good, and what needs improving.

Nick - The PM66 and the Unisaw are considered top notch industrial cabinet saws....(not sure why've you've included the Bosch on your list if you don't need portability). Fence straightness can vary from model to model even if it's the same model...you may need to hand select your fence. The laminated faces of the Biesemeyer fence are harder to shim because the faces can't be easily removed, ...

honest solution: don't live in a place where 30 people would take time out of their day to go to a meeting about someone else's pets.
my personal definition of a homeowners association: a means for people who lack taste, substance, and planning/architecture knowledge to pretend that they don't.

Very sticky area there. My personal feeling is once you've purchased an item, you're free to do with it as you please. Unfortunately, the law is not in agreement (look at software license agreements... though those are slowly changing for the better). Once you sell it as a product, if you include a team logo on it, it gets sticky fast. Even if you're licensed to use the logo or logo-bearing ...

This was made from plans in American Woodworker Mag. It basically 3 plywood boxes on a 2x4 frame. Up under the frame are 6 100 lb wheels. It is propped up on hardwood wedges almost all the time unless I want to move it. Trimmed out in oak. The plywood boxes have drawers and doors for storage. I used a solid core door that someone gave me for a top. Trimmed the door (cut to size) in walnut and ...
