You just want enough to wet the bore a bit. About any squirter will do. I was thinking about one of those trigger oilers. The PB squirter will work.

What does the temperature gauge in the instrument panel show when the car is fully warmed? Did you have heat before the head gasket replacement? Before the Bars Leak?

I don't think that the 98 gauges will work in the 97...simply for the change from analog to digital odometer. 98 was the first model year to use the digital odometer...I *Think* that even though the plugs/connectors are the same, I don't think it will work. It's kind of like trying to put a 2nd Gen gauge pod into a 1st Gen car....won't work because the gauge clusters are different sizes....

Baffling to be sure ... and for what its worth ... my 2005 Vue fobs are numbered same as the "working" one you have.
I've bought several RKE fobs for other vehicles from eBay and guess I've been fortunate as they were programmable to work as advertised - without exception.
It probably has little value for you but I've attached the RKE section from factory service manual. It applies ...

I can actually say I looked forward to your other saga. Kinda of glad you solved it, but kinda of miss the interesting problem and the troubleshooting you did.
The only special thngs (off the top of my head) would be a good torque wrench, piston ring compressor, and cylinder hone.

Replacing the timing chain with the cam cover in place would be like replacing the spark plugs via the tailpipe (old gynecologist joke...). Think about it; the timing cover is gasketed (in part) to, and sits beneath, the cam cover. The chain rides on the cam gears, under the cam cover. Just looking at the engine, I'm puzzled how one could ever get the chain off with the cam cover in place.

Instead of spending millions, well, it's print, so probably a million to sell 9,400 already "deeply discounted" cars, why don't they just pay people to take these orphans off their hands.

I may purchase a GM vehicle, but I doubt it will be a new one. Most likely a used Saturn or some other brand. Really have no interest in any new GM car.

That article/transcript says it all. He was NOT interested in SATURN as it used to be; but simply a brand name nothing more. The whole fiasco has the appearance of an ego-trip more than an real investment in a once-proud car company. If he had been truly interested in "saving SATURN" he would have negotiated for the Spring Hill facility. Probably could have picked it up far a song, told GM to ...

Personally, I wouldn't go that route unless it is a low mileage car that got creamed at an early age...Just my opinion.
There are a fair number of people here who could probably hook you up with a good DOHC at a decent price. Since your thread is brand new be patient and give it a few days and see what happens.

You wouldn't happen to have full turbo kits for the Astra H 1.8L would you? It's the only version of the Astra that we were sold here in North America. Also, is there a website available?
For those of you interested, I just did a currency conversion for the prices Dawid listed.
