Trades not an Option?

The first time that the phone rings with an offer of an overpriced, FA to be, aging, injured, slap hitter, you can kiss another young prospect good-bye.

$23,000,001 For Timmy?
Published (2009-11-24 21:01:00)
Holy $&@%! Take a look at this story! www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/11/lincecums-arbitration-number-23-million-plus.html The only argument I can see for the Giants is historical arbitration awards. They certainly can't argue that he doesn't deserve this much based on on-field performance. The only problem with historical numbers is nobody has ever accomplished what Timmy has in their pre-arbitration years! Discuss.

$23,000,001 For Timmy?

Haha. Wow. Go for it, Timmy. Ask for the moon! This is similar to when the Astros offered Clemens arbitration and he accepted (right after winning the Cy). The sentiment was pretty much, "He can ask whatever he wants because he's worth it." Of course, he was coming off a year where he made a ton of money as a free agent. -chef

Nelson Cruz?

Hey my, I don't think anyone in the Giants FO believes Bumgarner is ready to crack the starting rotation yet. He suffered from a loss in velocity at the end of 2009, and likely will need to work up his stamina before being ready for the prime time. But the kid is only going to be 20 in 2010...he's not even done growing yet. My guess is that he may crack the rotation by mid-2010, but will be a much better bet to contribute at a high...

Burriss

Going into the 2010 season, Burriss will turn 25 years old. Have you given up on him and his ability to be a starting ML middle infielder? If so, who in your mind, has passed him up in the Giants system?

Can Wheeler and Joseph really be on the list without having suited up? Pretty short on pitching isn't it? Runzler? Dominquez? Tanner? Stoffel?

BA's scouting report ends with this note: "At 21, Alderson will be one of the youngest pitchers in the Triple-A International League in 2010. The Pirates believe his post-trade struggles were a blip. If they're right, he should see Pittsburgh late in the season and eventually develop into a #3 starter." Pittsburgh's system is a lot stronger than it's been in recent years with excellent ...

In my mind Posey would be the only untouchable and that's only because he's so close to being Major League ready and we really don't have any replacement for him. As for the 2010 draft, I've been a fan of Christian Colon, although I don't think he's going to drop to us unless we get a pick higher up for Molina. He could be our starting second baseman a year or two after being drafted or ...

Ish's defense, definitely top notch. Offense? Not so much. Only Texas' mighty struggling Chris Davis had a worse OPS or BB/K ratio than Ish did last year among all teams' first basemen in the majors last year. And he was 25th in AB/HR. I like Ish. Love a guy who can field his position with such command. But his approach at the plate has been wildly inconsistent and he just hasn't ...

I haven't completely stamped his file but his clock is ticking and I'm not holding out much hope. Your future doesn't look too rosy when you can't even hit the ball out of the infield, and as I remember, he'd already been long since sent down before he hurt himself last year. I think both he and Frandsen are on life support as far as their careers with the Giants are concerned.

ON RICH HARDEN: "According to MLB.com's Tom Singer, the San Francisco Giants are looking for a starting pitcher to help fill the void behind the big three of Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain and Barry Zito. While they aren't likely to jump into the John Lackey sweepstakes, or give up a first-round pick to ink lefty Randy Wolf, several Type B free agents might interest them, including Rich Harden, ...

I have never, ever, never, neva eva neva heard of Garko being mentioned by management as being a candidate for the OF. That being said, if his glove isn't too horrible, that wouldn't be too bad an idea if they can't get three all new outfielders (this is my dream, don't say anything about this). But I'm pretty sure the Garkokawa platoon will be the 1B.

Hey heat, I ain't gonna kill you. I had the same thought this morning. But the Marketing gods will never allow it. Timmeh is now officially the co-face (with Panda) of the team, even though those bothersome Rowand and Zito picture continue to plague my sleep. I'd definitely consider dealing Lincecum to the Rangers, and relieve them of Nelson Cruz and 2-3 of their top prospects. Then I'd ...

Hey rebuild, Swisher would be a last resort move, IMO. If that's in the cards, I would like to see it happen AFTER.... 1. All non-tenders are announced. 2. All affordable FA options are exhausted. 3. The Yankees have already signed at least one of Holliday and Bay. At that point, the Yankees will simply be looking to cut payroll, and it wouldn't be a stretch for the Giants to offer a ...

"Sabean suggests to Schulman that the Giants are more likely to look into signing "second-tier" free agents." Yep, the only way, the Satan way. Was there ever any doubt? Year after year after year, the same smoke comes out of this idiots mouth. F Satan Spit
