De-Automate Rear Spoiler
Published (2009-11-19 22:33:00)
Just recall that when the rear air spoiler is up it produces additional drag on the aerodynamics of the car. If you don't need it for its downforce, you will pay a mileage price to keep it up.

Sergio, big improvement.... ELLSSUU your wheels are spectacular... what are they called btw ??? not to get too far off topic, but... what the hell was Porsche thinking with the "cookie cutter" wheels ? i have never felt that wheels have been a particularly strong part of the Porsche design. but, i sorta like the wheels currently found on this recent edition of the 997 turbo....

New car to me from MN

That is incredible! That thing sounds like bad luck. I have one on mine too and mine is lowered. It drags on entrance and exits into parking lots and driveways, but I like they way it looks and I think it's only around $100 to replace if you have to.

Thanks Alex. I think what you will find here is a good mutual respect for each other 99.99% of the time. But youre right sometimes stuff comes off the rails. I hope it doesnt happen again. That wont stop me from self indulging in some dumb jokes or humor, but thats just USUALLY for our members enjoyment. Certainly not to be hurtful or unwelcoming. And most of the other times is just trying to be helpful.

Another white one. Of all the colors, seems like the Carrera White is the most readily available. Dont know why. Did they make too many in that color?

This question has lingered for a long time with no viable solution other than a bespoke option. Ironically, the old-school 911s with the 7" sealed beams have a couple of solutions, but it seems the low-volumes of the 964 don't justify an aftermarket product.

Have heard of folks installing a MAP sensor to the intake manifold and running an electric gauge to the cockpit, but from what I understand the readings were essentially the same.

A Ford won't be keyed or cut-off on the road as easily as a foreign sports car. There's definitely prejudice/envy out there. It was not so in this country not so long ago. That does not stop me from driving a 911 though.

The 997 forum.....
...really sucks over the past few days.
This is supposed to be a technical forum about these cars that we own, are thinking about buying, or would love to own someday. Any well-written and thoughtfully considered prose on related topics, like other types of cars, is fun to read as well.

Sorry to say, I've had it with IB and their ridiculous excuse for forum servers. They have managed to turn a valuble service into a sloth paced irritation. About 3 am is the only time the servers run with any reasonable speed.
They were supposed to be down for 90 minutes today. Well, that stretched into over 6 hours. No notification at all on the main Renllist site. Very poor form for...
