One last thing. It would be a crying shame to waste Votto, Bruce, Cueto, Volquez, and Bailey on year after year of reaching for .500.

I've always thought that Jack Wilson was overrated.

Im almost thinking it would be better to trade all of them and let this year be a year of our young players getting experience. Then next offseason we should have plenty of money to fill the holes that we need filled, plus next offseason its suppossed to be a much better free agent class and compete in 11. Think about it for a second...

I expect something very similar to last offseason, if not smaller. Jocketty will try to make a play for a SS in the trade market, but will be outbid. We'll bring in a few of the non-tender types to compete for LF, C, and other utility roles. Otherwise, I see this being a very quiet offseason.

Noooooooooooooo! Right on the heels of Jeremy Hermida. Arguably my two favorite targets already gone for this offseason. I think I'm going to crawl into a hole.

I am so freaking sick of that clown Boras. I know he's just doing his job (and well), but I still can't stand him.

Bowden was still worse......but I blame Marge more than anything for destroying a really good farm/scouting system.
Dick might have been one but he at least understood the importance of good scouting/player development.

Thanks for the link nate. Helpful to have on hand. Here's one vote for a sticky. It also made me wonder, any reason we don't have a links list? Even if the links were simply run past Boss Hog for relevance first, I could think of a few basic categories including:
- Reds Blogs (e.g. Red Reporter, RedsMinorLeagues.com, etc.)
- Other notable blogs (Cot's, Tango's The Book Blog, ...

Interesting...here's a question for the group. Last year Dickerson performed poorly in LF at the beginning of the season and much of the blame was attributed to him being more comfy in CF than LF. I don't buy it that much but I can play along.
Would/Could that rule out Cameron? Could he just make the move to LF or would someone like Stubbs be able to make the switch? Would a move like ...

Well, paying him $10M next year, when he's not even arbitration eligible, is pretty senseless.
But giving him pretty good raises, and paying him where he's likely to end up anyway, wirt a discount because you are giving him financial security, makes sense for this type of player.

Franklin Gutierrez is considered to be the best outfielder on the planet (at least according to the Fielding Bible) yet no Gold Glove.

He has good power but terrible on-base skills. He's 30 years old and is, at best, a guy you give a minor league contract with an invite to spring training to.

Forget pre 60 feet guys, the game changed too much and was often dominated in brief spurts by guys who benifited from the sudden rule change (or likewise were wiped out by it) Gauging worth on pitching back in the dark ages of the game is a rabbit hole journey IMO, one that can't be documented other than by word of mouth, and stats that mirror a game that we know little about, especially the pace...

Football rules talk radio, even in the dead of summer.
Talk radio is a bore too IMO, that said the state of baseball is not defined by the talk radio crowd. It's defined by fannies in the seats and at last look it's still doing fairly well.
Even in the flyover states.
Folks have been saying baseball is on the wane since 1878
