Train buffs are facing jail after building their own ramshackle locomotive and taking it on the public rail network. In Germany. I liked the built in beer cooler part. Nice touch

Excellent! I take my camera with my every chance I get to take a helicopter or small plane. Of course the company pays for the flight time. Here's one from work. Our Shipyard (shown with the 2 drilling rigs) is right across the water slip from the KCS soda ash dock, one time KCS/NS intermodal yard, and behind the yard is the intercoastal canal shown with the barge passing through. It is the transcon of shipping.

Now that's what you call innovation! You gotta admit, if you're gonna blatantly trespass on RR property, THAT's the way to do it...I mean c'mon, it's like having your own private yacht, except on rails, and who wouldn't wanna go take a joy ride in their own little club on rails, complete with booze bar! Only in Germany...

There was a traffic jam in Edmonds this afternoon as the Garbage Train was held at MP 18 for a very long container train, then the afternoon passenger fleet. The first Sounder was about 15 minutes late, which backed up the trains behind it.
Photo #1: Garbage Train watches the container train roll by.
Photos #2 & #3: rear DPUs pass the Garbage Train.

5. Earlier in the day the train passed this bucolic scene near Monte Lake.
6. The next day found GMTX 2632 120 miles from Kamloops back on its regular duties switching in downtown Kelowna.
7 & 8. The major customer for KPR in Kelowna is Tolko Lumber. KPR provides two switches per week day for Tolko.

UP 004141 Empty Interchange Delivered NS Memphis,TN 12/08/2008 10:06 A.M.
Am I mistaken, or is this the first time one of the "special fleet" (I don't consider 4141 to be part of the Heritage Fleet) has been interchanged? I don't recall any of them leaving the UP system before, excluding their initial painting at WSOR's Horicon Shops.

I do believe the BNSF would like to run more than the 4-6 trains a day to Roberts Bank export facility, and I find it more interesting that Matt Rose is going up there sometime in March or April.. To me it makes NO since to try to reopen Sniqualmie Pass, they've already got Stampede open, and if it ONLY going to be used for a relief for the Gorge or Stevens why look at Sniqualmie after almost 30 ...

That's not a signal, it's a switch stand with banner for turnouts, that thing is heavy, why not keep it and use it for a mailbox stand.
