It must have been head gaskets on one engine design were the problem. It reminds me that the cure was a bottle of stock leak as there is no coolant flowing through the intake manifolds. It's not the coolant as I've owned a new GM vehicle on average every year since 1997 but never the smaller V6. " Welcome to yesterday. Who ever wrote that had his head stuck up his imported a$$! Over the last few years we have never dropped below about 5 degrees of frost in Vancouver - until last winter when it went a bit lower and dropped mor snow that the last 5 years combined. We get more crappy rainy weather than really cold here, and it is no fun to drive a sports car, nor to expose rims to possible salt on the roads. I just jump in my cars and fire them up once a month and bring them up to operating termperature before shutting...

Published (2009-11-07 23:18:00)
Glad to. But SOMEBODY is wrong. I will be glad to post the links to the pictures. The very FIRST indicator that the control arms are different is that a) the C4 arms look NOTHING like Kappa arms, b) the C5 & 6 arms look similar to Kappa arms, but are not the same, because c) the lower shock mounts are completely different than Kappa shocks, thus the mount points are completely different on the arms, and d) Kappas use coil springs and...

Will not get started on the whole "read it on the internet issue"..... TSB numbers can and do change, revised TSBs are written and can leave old TSBs in their wake, Preliminary Information Bulletins get repalced with TSBs, Service Manuals all get updated. LOl at Obama money. I live in Canada. I don't qualify for any special interest help from our gov. either. Not would I take it. Typically we have a far lover standard of living. Not only do we get taxed 15% on almost all purchases, but we pay 20% more for most products, including cars. 20% . Parts comand almost double the price. I assure you, sacrificed for my winter tires. In the past, I have had mostly worn out all seasons. Even driven...

Most people think the Goodyear GS-D3 (replaced the GS-D2s) are the best tire for the Solstice. OUTSTANDING performance on dry surface, perhaps the best tire in the wet. A bit expensive, but what's more important than staying connected to the road?

Based on all of your problems, and based on knowing that '06s had problems with cats, I'd think it might be the cat failing.
The purge valve problem (from my understanding) is best shown by rough/hard starts after filling the tank, and or hot starts being hard to start.

WSPOHN your write ups are very helpful in my decision on what upgrades I
should install regarding the way I use the car. I think the GMPP tune is
the way I want to proceed. The warrenty stays intact and I get a nice chunk
of performance upgrade. I too like to read and gather as much info as
possible before adding mods to a vehicle. The only problem I have in the
area where I live, Bremerton, Wa.,...

Vettes are fantastic machines and I understand why those that love them, love them. For me personally, they just don't move me visually the way a solstice does. I'm sure many vette owners feel the same way about Solstices.
Different strokes.

The car market is way down right now. Everyone is taking a hit on used and
new cars. I went back to the dealership that I bought from and checked on
trading for an 09 GXP. They wanted 10 grand difference. I politely said no
thank you and left. They said my car was worth 17K . It's worth more than
that to me. So I will keep it. Sorry the hear that you are so bummed out

We are told that the basic programming for this engine is torque based and that no mods you do will have any effect as long as that is so.
You can boost the torque limit up to 340 ft-lbs from 260 with the GMPP upgrade and that allows you to keep whatever warranty coverage you still have (another 4 years on power train?) but don't bother with any of the other upgrades until you go after ...
