Tele Atlas Licences Intermap 3D...
Published (2009-11-09 20:28:00)
Intermap Technologies has signed a licence agreement with Tele Atlas for the supply of 3D elevation data. Derived from Intermap's five metre digital terrain this data will enable Tele Atlas to offer contour elevation data to its mapping customer base. Navteq already have terrain data which is offered by a number of their customers including Navigon and so this is very much playing catch-up on Tele Atlas' part but it is nevertheless...

Save your cash and get the 940 as it offers more capability if you are wanting music player capability, at some point the Navcore 9 software will flow down to the x40 range - Mike

MS Autoroute replacement
Published (2009-11-09 22:29:00)
The trial works fine in Windows 7. The icons for pushpins are very artistic (a.k.a. rubbish) but that's no problem, I'll get used to them. Thank you SOOOOOO much Jock for finding this. Now all I have to do is make this fax modem work. Smile - when I went to buy it, the spotty person said Oh yes, we've got lots of routers, I said FAX and Spotty said yes routers have fax modem built in.

Published (2009-11-09 11:06:00)
I agree with duddy as there arn't enough options. I am fairly ridged in sticking to the speed limit but I'm no saint. I think I also need to point out the variance in gps and tacho speed measurement. It is widely considered the gps measurement is more accurate than that shown on your vehicles dashboard so that when you are traveling at 50mph your gps will most likely be showing only about 47mph. This will then give you that piece of...

This thread is a personal review by Wannabyourhero of the Smart Witness Vehicle Journey Recorder which might be of interest. It mentions several features which do not seem as good as the Roadhawk, such as the total recording time and the resolution. Admin Edit to insert link to the referenced thread

I think 3.5.4 & 3.5.5 are security updates to 3.5.x and are only offered if it is detected by the Mozilla servers that they are required.

I look forward to seeing this kind of data on production PNDs. However surely the the processing power of the PNDs would have to be extremely large to cope with real time display of 3D elevation data to the accuracy of 5 metres.

Hi yeramihi
A Postcode can cover quite a large area and therefore the device wants to know the house number. If you dont enter a house number just select Anywhere and it will navigate you to somewhere in the postcode area.

I don't suppose there's any chance you can come and make AutoRoute 2007 run on my Windows 7 is there? Have you tried 'in compatibility mode'?

Have you thought about Google Earth?
You can save routes and map to hard drive or print out driving directions and, by zooming in to all or several parts of the route, print the map/s.
I often check this way before setting up my Sat Nav. instead of using MS Autoroute 2007. _________________ Mio P350 - iGO8, with linknet's Ultra Skin 6.

Yes, when setting up the options for audible warnings for each camera type, you can select TTS and type in your own message. I did this a couple of firmware releases back because the downloadable recorded messages were never the same volume as the navigation instructions. I have stayed with it and much prefer it to the various bongs available in the menu
I have typed warnings like Gatso 30 ...

I submitted a mobile camera on 27/09/09 and as I cannot see it on the submission map I presume I was not the first one to submit it. How long does it take for a verification to take place? I realise it is more difficult with a mobile rather than a fixed site but if it takes so long what is the point of submitting such sites, after all if it is a mobile then it will be there today, not tomorrow,...

I see TomTom have extended their extension on the extension of the reduced price offer on their speed cams yet again
Can't help but draw the conclusion that they aren't selling very well and is it little wonder? I loaded up my 940 with their speedcams for a jaunt to Devon and back last weekend.
It has been a while since I last appraised them but good grief, they aren't just bad...

I updated mine. I've only noticed a couple changes. When I pressed the "Work" icon, instead of a confirmation screen with a small green "Go" bar there is now a whacking big "Go" button in the middle of the screen. Also when leaving the motorway, I got a 3D full screen lane guidance display.
I added the PGPSW files yesterday using the tried an tested method and it worked as expected. ...

The cradles are superb quality, more akin to OEM car-kits than cheap sat-nav mounts.
I've just received the x40 cradle and the 940 just drops in. No more fiddling with the release mechanism. Also a good solution for cars where the windscreen is steeply sloped as the gooseneck windscreen mount ...
