ATTN: All 3.4L swapped Trooper guys
Published (2009-11-07 14:57:00)
So, when you say "pack", you mean a lot of vaseline then? Or just a little on the moving parts to keep them lubed? From looking at the pick up tube on the 3.4, it looks like I should just position the screen so it is basically flat. What I mean is, it seems I could position the new pickup in the exact same manner as with the 3.4, but it is longer so it will go down further. Thanks again, this is all good stuff. Bart

Ok, here is the deal. I have never owned an Isuzu. But I have found a 98 Amigo 3.2 5 speed with engine troubles for sale earlier today.......I drove it earlier today....It idle it was fine. It did not want to run over 25-30 mph. but after the engine warmed up it wanted to backfire like maybe it was out of time, and started smoking a little. I don't know if it needs a new head or if the ...

The 2.6 seems to have a nasty habit of tossing the thrust washers (we can't really call them "bearings" can we?) from the block and dropping them into the pan.
I just wonder if cold - dry starts has anything to do with them getting puked out of position?
So-o-o-o I jumpered out the neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal.
Maybe? Hmmm?
If you try it too - just be ...

Why are you changing the oil pump?
If it were me I'd still line up the timing marks. Only takes a few seconds and removes any doubt.

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term. The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :
Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?
Most of the students ...

OK folks, I am going to buy my motor today. I'm gonna need a lot of guidance going forward.
First off, does anyone have a starter jig they can lend/sell me? Otherwise, I will order the kit from Rodney Dickman's site (man, that's a great name).
After I get the motor home, and get the starter holes drilled, what would be the remaining steps, in order, that I should follow before the...

Well, first thing your mechanic needs to do is go to his oil filter crusher, stick his head inside, and pull the lever. Then he'll be doing us all a favor by clearing the gene pool of idiot mechanics.
First, you can't remove the IAC unless you're going to a full carbureted setup. The idle air control controls idle speed. Removing that won't give you more pep, it'll simply make the thing ...

IIRC, the oil pressure should read ~30 psi at idle. Double check that the oil level is correct (at the upper mark on the dipstick).
You can get some good info from a compression test:
Dry & warm reading = ?
Wet & warm reading = ?
To take the compression reading, you need the screw in compression tester, and a nicely warmed up engine. First remove all the plugs. Install the ...
