Madison when we took our dog to an emergency clinic we experienced a high bill also, but they also explained that they only get our dog stabilized and cared for during the time your regular vet is not available. It was expected that we take results of tests they'd ran and history of dog while with them on to the regular vet. The emergency clinic was just that - emergency help while normal vet care wasn't available. Maybe the clinic...

They're such good boys. Must be a nerve wracking time for you right now with the stress of the move and all. Hope all the pups and birdies and kitty cat are handling it well, and I hope everything goes smoothly for you and when you get there you all settle in quick. Great picture, so sweet.

How's your holiday?
Published (2009-11-25 08:30:00)
my family is coming up here, to Chicago for once, instead of me makiing the 5 and a half hour drive. So I'm super excited about only driving in 30 miles of big city traffic instead! I don't think there is any thing I'm dreading, for once. The travel bit was always the bad part. I have a great time with my family. This is going to be a blast.

in case anyone finds this my vet called me back and after explaining it to her, she told me that it sounds like bladder stones which are common in schnauzers and that sassy will be fine even though it was painful for her to pass it. We will also be making an appt for her for saturday to get a urine test and xrays to make sure there aren't more stones or terrible infection and now I can dry my face and continue on with my...

Krystal, while others may not like my advice, I'll still give it.
You do not (and haven't for awhile) enjoy owning Schatzi. Rehome her.
She's young enough that potential owners will be easier to find than for older dogs. She has some training, also a plus. I feel it's unfair (to the dog) to keep a dog we dislike. Find her an owner she fits better with, and can build a strong bond with....

I have no advice for you, but welcome!
Did momma Sassy get spayed so none of this happens again? It's something to look into for sure, especially if this ailment is hereditary, which I'm not sure. You're probably aware of the whole shelter situation and how there's millions of homeless cats so I won't go there, but accidents happen, right? A spay would be the best bet for the health of Sassy...

Hi and welcome to PL.
I think allowing Wally the extra rest and lying around when needed can't do any harm.
Also look into vitamins and meds they have now to help dogs with arthritis and such.

Yes a dog will know if he is not liked.
What do you mean the boyfriend penalized your dog? I don't like the sound of that.
I'd trust my dog's judgment and rethink the boyfriend, frankly.
However there are some very knowledgeable experienced dog people here who can probably help with training advice.

How did you find out about the Kidney and Bladder stones? What food are you feed to dissolve the bladder stones? What kind of stones are in the bladder? Has your dog been checked to ensure there are no crystals in the urine?
Sorry to interrogate. But, need some more information to help you out.

My first question is, are both girls spayed?
My second question was, were there any toys or food present?
I don't know if 2 attacks warrants a re-homing. If it were my animals, I'd want to figure out exactly what was going on first. Dogs rarely attack out of the blue, there is almost always a reason.

We have a dog park in our apartment complex, and we had our pups out there, and another dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback was there, playing. Out of no where the Ridgeback, tried to attack Rebel, and allen got between them, and the owner did nothing. He pushed the dog back after it lunged for Rebel's face, and he was trying to get our dogs out of the park, and the dog jumped and bit his lip. He was ...

I don't post on here much, but I do read a lot and I've noticed everyone is very open and comfortable and very helpful. So I'm going to go out on a limb here and ask you all for some insight on a rather personal topic.

EDIT: This is not an issue of a well-fitted collar. It is a matter of using collars without clasps on them to allow for easy removal from the neck. The collar in the following situation was fitted properly. The dog pictured above is not the dog that died. It is a picture of a totally unrelated dog from a shelter. It is just a picture to illustrate the type of collar I am talking about. In ...

It was brought to my attention today that I may be irresponsible, because I won't allow my dog to get into a situation because she could potentially get hurt.
Let me give some background here.
Kona is a 4 year old Jack Russel Terrorist/Corgi mix. She is, in general, an all around good dog. We have a problem, though.
Miss Kona is a bit of a priss. She doesn't like when other dogs ...

Shadow's birthday last month. We feed them properly, honest! But, on their birthdays they get fried chicken. Of course, with five dogs now, the fried chicken dinners are becoming more frequent... Shadow is waiting for her turn. Judy is standing. She can actually stand and twirl now. Sometimes....
