I should have written NVH and not just the H, but it was implied. As Tweak says reducing the drive train weight is a key driver. It will have big advantages in fuel comsumption and accel response. Its not just the weight, because its rotating its the moment of inertia that needs to be considered and thats a square I think of the mass, so yes, big savings to be had. Not when it comes to having to buy a new DMF though. some friends of mine have...

Likely just deterioration of the sweeps (seals) on the knuckle. Sorry to say, I think you are likely going to have to pull them apart to see what is up. Mine are always dry and as we are now coming into the winter season where they tends to put a lot of salt on the roads, I always try to keep a nice light coating of grease on the knuckles to prevent rust pitting.

Changed the supposedly 4" springs in the front for some actual 4" springs. Funny, it sits about and inch and half lower now. At least it's level now.
Took the old cable off the PTO winch, and put on a brand new Warn high-mount cable. All 48 metres of it fitted on with room to spare..

I might be up for it. Depending on date as to get time off work or something. Is it a simple track? or is it quite touchy in a few places.
Cheers

Hi
I have a VDO boost gauge and a scangauge and the boost readings look the same. However the VDO gauge is much easier to read when the boost is fluctuating. Also the scangauge is only good for the CRD patrols.

I don't know the answer to your question but I thought they were there for a reason, something about turning in opp direction to crank for smoother operation??. By removing them, wouldn't it just shake more? I'm pretty sure mine were transferred into the new block when it was rebuilt.
Hopefully someone with a better understanding of this engine will correct or confirm this.
Anyone?...

I haven't worked out exactly when/why mine does it but mine also cuts out when 4bying, mainly in low range. I believe the 4.8 has a cut out when it deems there to be excessive revs as well as over temp. When I put it in manual mode and low range and start doing steep hills up and down it quite often cuts out. Stick it back into drive and the revs drop down lower ...

Gday Maddog.
Being an engineer I'm always open to new ideas, this one sounds like it's on the money, after all it's this oil that prevents a 2 stroke engine from seizing. If it can do that in a fully stressed 2 stroke engine it should work in diesel fuel to enhance lubrication. I think if it's used with a biocide you would have the best of both worlds. Thanks for the heads ...
