As I said before, I think there will be a last-minute reprieve for the IMCR, using some political fudge to save EASA's face on "total European standardisation". I am sure the UK CAA will support this. They have said so (I went to that 1/08 CAA/EASA presentation and made copious notes) and it would make sense too, because they know damn well that all that a removal of the IMCR would do is stop UK holders overtly asking...

Dear sternone - please send me £100. Since you seem to consider that a trifling sum, I'll be happy to forward it to a charity of my choice. Back to the plot - that idiot bollock-fondler was professionally incompetent. If you need to make another visit, he should cover all your expenses AND conduct the blood-letting at no cost. £240 is outrageous for a Class 2 medical - thieving git.

Quote: I don't get the impression that anyone representing the UK considers the IMCR is worth fighting for. Not enough to make a nuisance about. Other countries do that (quite properly) on issues that really matter to them. Exactly. More than 5,000 pilots supporting the IMCr who are being sidelined. That is a dangerous game, not least because I fully intend it will turn into 5,000 individual letters to EASA. That may take some managing....

For sure mountains are not a big problem in Holland but you can hit windmills if you are low enough. The way I look at it I try and reduce the risk factor as much as possible because God knows I spent enough time flying in fairly high risk jobs, eight years agricultural both fixed wing and rotary wing and fifteen years as a heavy water bombing captain in both North America and South America including the mountainous areas of both. Spent my...

Even when the ILS serves opposite ends of the same runway there normally has to be an interlock that not only ensures only one transmitts at a time but if I remember correctly there is a specified delay between one being shut off and the other starting to transmitt. Technically it would be possible to do the same with parallel runways however, one would have to ask why bother? Such an arrangement removes the posibility of offering the...

I will second what Moona said. If i had my time again, i would have done all of my exams before i left the UK. I did 2 exams before i left and a lot of studying. Buy the books atleast a few months in advance to get a "grounding" knowledge and it may also be a good idea to have atleast an hour in the air to put all of the theory into a practical scenario. It helps! I think alot of people forget ...

I have flown both types and I found the T-tailed Lance less stable and more difficult to fly in turbulance compounded by the longer fuselage. The turbocharged Lance requires a lot of rudder to keep straight on take-off and I found it easier to line up on the runway and apply the parking brake, set the power correctly, release the brakes and keep straight with large amounts of rudder. I found that...

Hi Oscar Having done loads of spinning this year on a gliding instructor's course, my twopennorth is as follows. A classic spin entry is an over-ruddered turn at low speed, whereas in the sideslip situation you describe, you have exactl the opposite - in other words, loads of out-of-turn rudder, so the configuration is inherently spin-resistant. The biggest problem is recovery from the ...

Having a surgical procedure would mean you would have to inform IAA/CAA and it is likely you would be temporarily unfit until you had recovered from the surgery. Do lots of research. Surgery of this type is not pleasant and the recovery can be dogged by complications. If those complications were severe or took a long time to recover from then yes, that may well affect your medical. Think ...

Hi not an owner but have flown the aircraft, it is a high performance aircraft, fairly slippery with a lively roll rate. Timed a firefly aerobatic machine against the cirrus 22 and not much between them in roll. The newer machines have increased dihedral and are more stable. I dont think the aircraft are especially dangerous probably more to do with low time inexperienced pilots out of...
