Connecting 5mx to PC

Except for the problematic screen cable in 5mx. I had one where the screen turned bad, but now I have a new, still running, but I fear that it will die too

To install opera download the Opera_Mobile_10_WM_beta_2.cab file and do not uncompress, do not change the file extension. Copy it as is to a folder on the iPAQ, open file explorer on the iPAQ, browse to the .cab file and click on it to install. You can also try this page instead http://home.mobile.yahoo.com/

That's excellent, I now have Opera running and it looks REALLY excellent, thank you for the hints!! As for the Yahoo pages, it seems to be ok, but (you guessed it) the issues are still there at times, but I am a bit more aware of what to do... either hang around and see what occurs, else edit the URL and see if that makes any difference ( sometimes it does, other times it doesn't). It's a real strange one, and I don't think...

The mbook is definitely NOT in any way like a smartphone, it is a true "mini-laptop" like the psion, with the clamshell form factor and the WinXP OS. And it is lighter than the Psion 5 The Pandora is OK if you like Linux and just use it as a dedicated gaming handheld, but the keys are terrible and the speed is slow. BTW, I use a Blackberry Storm 2 and a WiFi-enabled iTouch, so I am familiar with smartphones as well as psions....

Really? I only saw the photos on the site... it looks like a clamshell when opened. From what you're saying though it is like a smart phone? The keyboard doesn't look great either but the proof of that pudding is in the eating. I've paid for a pandora ( www.openpandora.org ), which I'm hoping will one day arrive (who knows?). However the keyboard is not going to be good I'm sure... I will have carry a collapsible...

Tungsten E2 pricing question...
Published (2009-12-09 18:52:00)
I don't know how amazon.com would arrive at a price of $599.99 for a Tungsten E2. I'd say if you're getting bids in the $190s, take it.

PDA for Older eyes and fingers!
Published (2009-12-13 09:36:00)
My wife is finally coming around to realizing that the pieces of paper, business cards, and 'stuff' that she writes things down on and then gets lost is in need of an electronic overhaul. We both use Windows OS so a device would need to be the same for ease of sync. I have used Palm in the past and cannot tolerate their support and see no need for 'faux' apps to mimick Windows and have been pleased with my iPAQ hx2750 for...

Also have a look at the HP IPAQ 4355 as it has a large screen and a keyboard. It is old but works very well and will fit the needs you outline very well. As for making screen things larger, the only solution I found is WimMobile Lens .

I just discovered that there's that little thing that wiggles when you connect - down in what used to be called the system tray. If I right-click on it there's a Properties option and the time sync is there.

You need a USB- Serial Port.
The Keyspan USA19HS is the one I use.
I don't have Windows 7 so cannot confirm, but I would assume Psiwin 2.3.3 will install on it. I'll be a bit surprised if it doesn't run, though you may need to try out some of the compatibility settings. Maybe others can help here.
You then need to ensure the USB-Serial adapter is configured to serial port 1 - 4 as Psiwin only ...

So, who's seen the new psiXpda? Is it vapour-ware?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but IMO neither this, nor the M1 Mbook are true replacements for a psion. The mbook keyboard is not good enough. Both run windows. Neither will last a week without a recharge. Neither are instant on. Neither has a well tailored PIM suit or an extremely responsive OS.

You may want to take a look at HTC Touch Pro 2, also caled HTC Tilt 2. They are usually sold through mobile providers but you can get unlocked version from other places. You do not need to use the phone functions, the unit will work normally without SIM card or phone activation. It has large 3.6" screen and side way slide out keyboard.
