Well arent I a real *whiz-bang*.....rebooted and looks like SUSE splash screen and basically is but there in front of me is the option to boot SUSE, Failsafe, Windows or Floppy..... you can check the pwr sw and rst sw yourself from the case to the pins on the motherboard and makesure they are right, but you will be better off to return it for warranty

They will loose the battle on those grounds. Apple has not done anything other then the same thing many manufacturers do. Install a "Bios" Much the same way HP, Dell and all the others use a proprietary Bios. As for monopoly status, Apple has not even come close to reaching the numbers to be considered a "monopoly". They are not even within a country mile of monopoly status (In the PC market)...

While logged on to an account with administrator's rights, click Start, Run, type Chkdsk /R and Press Enter. Type Y and press Enter, then restart the computer. The disk with be checked for bad sectors and file system errors during the boot process.

Hi and welcome I see you have Avira antivirus, AVG8 antivirus and maybe McAfee?, on this computer. Need to get it down to only one antivirus or we'll run into major problems with tools and scans. This will need your attention first. Note: More then one antivirus doesn't give any added protection, most cases it can actually reduce security and use a high amount of your computers resources....

right caintry how many drives you going to be using? if only one, install windows first but during the install, delete all partitions on the drive then create, just the ones you want windows to use, leave rest of drive as free space. then install suse 11.2 don't change anything it will use the free space left on your hard drive, just accept everything until it's installed. what you asking duan? how to re-install it? just put the disk in and do an update. get it off karmic boot menu? just go into karmic boot loader and delete the suse entry then save(boot loader found in yast with suse no idea where with karmic.)

which ones are u.s. distro.'s? thought they were all more or less european, after all linux is a european kernel and they just never included the codecs because the biggest market is in the u.s. or so i thought anyway.. not hard to add the codecs either.

We have a Dell computer and XP Home. Avast is our full time Scanner. Sat I was unable to use Yahoo browser or IE to connect to the internet. I'm able to use IE only in Safe mode with networking. AVG as of right now is just crap. It's slow and unreliable. The only enticing thing is that it offers both antivirus and antispyware in one program. Avast! to me is meh. The interface looks like some sort of music player and isn't overly intuitive or helpful. The detection seems to be average. I personally put Avira on every machine I work on.
