9800 GT's or GTX 260

QUOTE (gabrieltessin @ Nov 24 2009, 10:38 PM) Always go with the most powerful single card you can afford and then you can add one later for SLI if need be later. I believe the 260 will out perform the 2 9800's outright. it certainly will, my old 4870 512mb performed smoother than my old 9800gx2 (which is faster than two 9800gts) --------------------

Asus, eVGA, Gigabyte are all great boards........... Gigabyte boards have been very good to me the last couple of years. I went against the grain and bought the ASRock X58 Extreme and I have been blown away by what a great board it is. This is my first "enthusiast" class ASRock board (having used a few of their mATX boards in the past). Previously I have sworn by Gigabyte - and DFI back in the NF3 - NF4 days. I don't...

Maybe someone who sees this thread will know of it and post the link to it as I've only seen it once since I don't need to sleeve and thus I don't have use for it. I see, i think ima take a look around then, thx for the info

1280x1024 is a low resolution. The HD4850 is enough for playing even Crysis @ highest settings at that resolution. However I'd go for a 5770 and overclock the CPU. With that done you will be able to play everything smoothly.

sorry, but it's most likely hooked up to the internal USB connections. So you can either open up the case find the wire and unplug it for the duration of the win7 install (what you don't want to do lol) or disable USB within the BIOS for the duration of the win7 install, however you'd need to use ps/2 keyboard or mouse to get through the install or alternatively, if you get errors ...

can you post your bios settings? first thing to do is up the cpu voltage and nb/ht voltage a few steps and the move your fsb/ht up from 200 (i think 200 is the base for amd) to 215/220 check for stability and if its stable keep uping the fsb a tad till it becomes a bit unstable then add a little more volts. are you running water cooling on the cpu as well? EDIT im an idiot i see you ...

Cool, I figured they would honor it since it clearly isn't something that you caused and is more of a manufacturer's mistake to use anything but solid capacitors

Sorry to hear that man, but its what I thought it was. Time to get a new one for the holidays. You could take a gander at the Corsair 620HX or 750HX, both would be pretty cheap and provide a ton of power for years to come. Unless you can RMA the dead one, in that case that would be your best bet. Just depends on how old it is.

A little to pricey for me though. Not bad considering the remaining GTX 295's are going for the same price, and will be trounced by this card....

You're the only one that can answer that question. To hit 4.0ghz you will likely need to increase the vcore and you will certainly have more heat to deal with. To hit 4.0ghz you'll need a motherboard capable of 200 blck (unless you want to use the Intel Turbo feature and get the x21 multiplier) - can your motherboard, power supply and memory handle that? Another big question is ...
