Significant Others
Published (2009-11-24 17:30:00)
Have gone with GFs in the past and most trips have been enjoyable. I would recommend that you actively involve her in choosing places to go, involve her in the planning, and then do the trip at her pace. Have seen guys who are over zealous take their significant others on trips that are way too difficult, and then the person doesn't want to go anymore.

Significant Others
Published (2009-11-20 04:36:00)
This was the first year that my wife and I have backpacked together. It is the first time that she has ever shown any interest in going. In the past she has been genuinely interested in my trips. Has asked a lot of questions and paid close attention to the photos, but never gone with me. As a matter of fact I mostly solo. In looking back over the last 35 years or so I may have spent trail time with other people about 5% of the time. This year...

Summer trips in the Uinta Mountains
Published (2009-11-24 08:09:00)
Where did you find info on trails for the area. Because of the sheep (mostly) I'm guessing that it is not all wilderness area. Did you run across any other people? Are the trails well defined or are there cross country routes. And, most important to all my trips that I plan, did you fish?

OSIN 4807 review

I think we all got a serious steal. It suppossed to snow off an on for the next 5 days in the mountains, so maybe soon I'll get to test it out. I need some open bowls at Vail though, not Elodora's glades.

Out Door Treatment For Depression
Published (2009-11-22 21:07:00)
I didn't even realize that was a danger. I have depression, so I'll have to be careful of that if I ever do anything high-altitude. I'm afraid I don't have any recommendations, though- my depression is of the chronic sort, so I don't know any quick fixes.

Have I gone crazy?
Published (2009-11-24 16:09:00)
Hi... I'm new to this forum & just wanted to introduce myself and say "howdy". For once a reliable site with a layout that I can stare at - that is good to look at! I'm here to learn and get involved in this site. How could I best get involved? Peace!!! PS: - I'm attempting to locate a long lost step-brother called Rhett Aderholt, Where would I locate him?

Significant Others

My ex-wife and I rock climbed and did mountianeering together for many years. I would always make sure it was a 50-50 deal, she was involved in all the planning for packing the packs, meals, clothes to take and the destinations. To me the planning of the trip is more than 1/2 the fun!!! When we started camping and hiking in the early 80's I was surprised just how much of a trooper she was and turned out to be a really good climber as...

I was going to hit up my military friend located in that area a while back,
but never visited. He since is back in the states now though. Take some
pics and let us know what you discover!

I can get the weight soon but the testing will have to wait some. I am on the mend list again. Back in Oct I broke my ankle and was laid up for three months. Well last week I swamped my canoe for the first time. Lucky the temp was eighty three. While putting the green machine back on top of the car I fell on some large rocks and have injured my tail bone. I can just barely get up and down....

I've given up on buying films except of course for AC's flicks. I have a silly collection and can't even remember what is in most of them. Heck I even transferred all my VHS to dvd! Going against that, if anyone has a copy of "Hot Wheels" from way back let me know. PinkyJ had a copy, but don't know anyone else who does. Anyone remember that from the Tahoe gathering? Woot!

I am just starting to catch up on trips other people have taken. The Uintas have been of interest to me and it was good to find your post. I have only looked at going in from the Utah side so this report of yours is intriguing.

Why not try leaving the outer tent flap open to increase air circulation? Beyond that, if your are going to purchase a bivy sack, spend the money and purchase a water-proof breathable one ... doesn't pay to skimp on gear.

You can't go wrong with any of those, and there are other great parks outthere as well, like Kings Canyon (like Yosemite, only minus the unholycrowds) and Rocky Mountain. Everything mentioned so far is great forhiking-- it you're after any particular kind of hiking or scenery(wildlife, 100-mile vistas, history), I'll have specific suggestions.National parks aren't usually the best for mountain ...
