Hi some guy. The more you keep trying to reassure yourself, the worse it will get for yourself. Many people have the gay fears (HOCD as it's referred to). Have a read of these articles and also the other articles on those websites: http://westsuffolkpsych.homestead.com/Am_I_Gay.html http://www.ocdonline.com/articlephillipson7.php Cheerio.

I'm glad you sought professional advice. Can you ask her if she can refer you to a good psychiatrist who can perhaps prescribe you some anxiolytics for immediate relief ? Or you can ask your doctor (General Practitioner) to refer you to a good psychiatrist. OCD responds very well to anxiolytics, whether conventional or alternative. What I am asking you to do is a multi pronged attack on your disease. The anxiolytics will give you relief...

exposure therapy
Published (2009-11-26 15:38:00)
I don't really put a number on my exposures, to be honest. Whenever I notice something is not going on in my brain, I purposely put one of my obsessions there and sit with it. It happens to me a handful of times a day. Somedays, I purposely set aside 20 or 30 minutes to invite in my obsession and keep inviting it back in when my mind fades from it. It's tough work but it's been well worth it for me. Good luck.

Can OCD lie to you like that though? Surely there is no set way for OCD to occur or develop, it just doesn't seem totally in keeping with others symptoms and experiences even though much of my others are.

Hi, Mike,
I'm suffering a relapse at the moment. Having had "good" periods, I can say that know what you mean about feeling like now you need to sort out the non-OCD stuff in your life. Do you have a therapist for talk-therapy?

Hello Alys. You said it in your post, you should be on medication. OCD responds to proper treatment, so perhaps you would do well to consult a doctor.

Welcome HTGreyness,
I can understand your horror exactly. I am currently dealing with the same kind of thing and it is sheer hell. However, as most people on this forum will tell you, if you play into the horror of your thoughts they will only get more distressing. I have Pure OCD about a traumatic time in my past (15 years ago) and am constantly wondering if I am remembering awful things ...

Hi Nightclouds. Do you mean the actual content of your thoughts are not guilty thoughts, or are you talking about not feeling guilty for having the thoughts as in when people feel bad for having such thoughts? I have had many a violence/anger intrusive thought, which is a type of ocd thought just as there is religoius or sexual intrusive thoughts etc..
Yeah dissociation is woeful. Some of ...

Hey there. Your obsessional thoughts are not new to all of us. Have you contacted a GP or Psych? Checking yourself in isn't the answer as most emergency room Dr.s aren't well versed in our disorder. Go to the ocfoundation.org website and see if you can get some ideas of therapists close to you. In the meantime, try to relax and know that there is a way to feel better.

There is someone that came to my attention today that appears to be better suited somewhere else (though I can't imagine where). Not all moderators can ban other members; but I assure you that as soon as those mods are online, they will get to know about this particular 'incident'.
If there are problems with any other members can you guys please PM one of the mods.

On a forum of this size, everyone will sooner or later run into another member who rubs you the wrong way. This forum includes an "ignore list". If you place another member in your ignore list, posts written by that member are not displayed. This may be useful for some of you.
Also, the shoutbox is just like any other internet chat room. It is there for all to use freely. There is no ...

Hi. I just wanted say I know where you're coming from with the schizoaffective--I'm schizophrenic. I hope you feel better. Are you in therapy or on medication for depression and OCD (I assume you're on schizo meds).
