QUOTE(Sneakeater @ Jul 3 2009, 02:59 PM) QUOTE(Sneakeater @ Jun 29 2009, 03:48 PM) I have a book at home that lists the Top 20 or 40 for most weeks in the mid-60s. When I get home, I'll post a representative week. You won't believe it. This book turns out to be yet another thing I can't find without the unobtainable assistance of my wife. What are you drinking?
Published (2009-07-04 06:14:00)
Right now I'm drinking this half bottle of 2006 Diatom Huber that they included in the goody bags of the Greg Brewer wine dinner at Per Se a few weeks ago. It starts out strong, but by the end of the half bottle I'm finding it a bit much. There is some heavy acidity here, which makes it hard to take in bulk without food. But of course it's not made to drink without food. Still, on the whole, an astonishing (in the good way)...

We were there tonight. Had one Chilean prix fixe plus three menu items. On the Chilean, the dishes were the same but the platings on some were slightly different: the ceviche was in a small glass bowl embedded in crushed ice, which kept the whole thing nice and cold. We both loved it, especially for the passion fruit, and wished there were more ceviches on the menu like in the old days. The salad with the crab tostadas was just a mix of...

Very weirdly (and completely innocently), I know a whole lot about it - not by its brand name, but by its generic name, propofol. They're calling it a sedative, but its real use is as an anesthetic. FloFab has the story . It seems the private party business is picking up again, so they now have better uses for the space. I am not surprised that it was not crowded on the Wednesday before a long weekend.

10 Downing is a place you go into expecting not to like. (Orik will use this as evidence that some of us go to restaurants expecting not to like them, just so we can say we've been there. That's needlessly pejorative, but there's some truth to it.) You expect not to like it because the chef is suspect. He's Jason Neroni, who lost his last gig, at Porchetta in Brooklyn, after being ...
