I'm just jealous that you can get the CB1300. Kidding, well not really, but my main point is that I'm glad that you're OK.

Benny's octane ratings are measured using our old pre-1971 system. His numbers are actually lower numerically if compared to our present system. His 97 is closer to our 92. Higher octane fuel burns slower. The flame propagation process is slowed down for a more complete burn. In a high compression engine, the low octane fuel, will pre-ignite (knock), before it fills the combustion chamber. Dods, is correct in stating that if you run a...

If I had to buy a new bike... If I were going classic, I think the mods would get mad at the amount of pics I would put up of classic Japanese bikes...LOL Since some of you need a lesson in taste for which Ferrari to own, here is one just for starters

The owners manual will tell you. If you do not have one, or can not find one online, just listen. My old vstar would sound like a steel drum band if I did not use premium. My current bike says that I should use premium as well. I had to fil up once with regular at a station that had no premium. I could not hear any difference with this bike. Still better safe than sorry.

You might be able to solve your issues with a simple aftermarket seat. Stock seats are notoriously uncomfortable, and from what I understand the Sporty seat is particularly so.

The insurance company will only pay for blue book value in a total loss no matter what you paid. The state will also charge a base amount of tax based on their interpretation of the bike's value.

Much like your question about why are most of the 1%er mc's racist, they also only drive HDs due to being " American Made". Sports bikes are typically all from overseas and not looked at like a "manly man's" bike.

I got the 99 500 Vulcan up to about 105 before I ran out of highway, the 03 1500 Nomad to about 102 before the road leveled off and I started slowing down. I don't know what possessed Kawasaki to make that bike with only a five speed. After 80 you're out of the power band and have very little acceleration left.

it depends on the specifications of your bike.. read the manual and see what the manufacturer recommends. Usually, unless you bike is a high performance bike, the compression ratio of your engine shouldn't be so high to require a higher grade fuel.
With regular you should be fine, just make sure to use good gasoline, I.e. shell, BP, Mobil, Chevron... those are all good and won't leave crap in ...

I would say check out your solenoid, which should be next to your battery it has a cable that runs from your positive battery terminal to one terminal on your solenoid, and the other runs to your starter motor.
To test it connect the positive lead from your multimeter set at dc 20v, to the terminal of your solenoid that leads to the starter motor and connect the negative lead of your ...

I don't really take much to sides or anything but I did notice all the Buell Blasts were turned in to cubes when googling around.
Why?

I think Triumph already has a good jump on that with their current lineup. What the Thunderbird will do is just add more to their prominence.
Then again, endorcement from Jay will do a lot to boost their sales as well.

I have been on exactly none of them. I was surprised that the 100 miles of interstate from Jamestown to Fargo didn't show up on the list though.

Hmmm... I like how the foot controls are positioned, but it looks like they made the front tire narrower. I think I would end up combining features from this bike on the Phantom.
As to the gauges being up on the bars, is it just a single speedo, or did they add a tach as well? I think I prefer the tank from the Phantom. I would take that speedo out, and put in an info pod of some sort. I ...

If you have a loan on the bike the lien holder will require insurance. Otherwise, you would not need to insure it if you are not going to ride it.
