I have read the Michael Asher book "The Real Bravo Two Zero", although some years ago now. I am looking at it in front of me on my makeshift bookshelf consisting of wine boxes as I write. I found it to be a very interesting book and I felt he was the right man to investigate the story because He speaks fluent Arabic and was able to understand them and integrate with them perfectly, knowing their customs and traditions. The...

If you want to join, why would to spare time to it? To ask on this forum is to denote that you have the desire to join. For example take me, I have a philosophical mind and essentially over look the basics. I want to join. But I will join not because I want to fire the lastest rifle, I want to become a better person. To some it's a predisposed passion. My former classmate is a Rifleman in the 2nd Battlion the Rifles (Corporal). I asked...

I too think the sentance was fair and the right one. From what I have read he is very sorry and his future at Sheffield Hallam University may even end short because of this. Also there was an announcement from Sheffield Police that they are going to set up a project to combat this £2 drinks all nite stuff which promotes binge drinking. Wether any of the above will happpen??? who knows.

On the fence. All or nothing.

Quote: I am not sure when and how to break the news and how are my relatives going to take me seriously. Perhaps on the day of the ADSC when I have my hair shortened. Why not get your hair cut now. Its a small start but has a bigger meaning symbolical to others around you that you are serious. Its a small start and the way forward. Lots of little steps.

You can always appeal decisions, your recruiter would have to do the paper work for you so go and have a word with him and see if he will back you. However, one thing to keep in mind is just because you appeal doesn't mean the decision will be any different.
It's a very long process though and to be honest with the Army's recruitment the way it is they're able to turn people away for ...

The battery would have consisted of the normal 4 inch Ack Ack guns. Many of these were in static positions around London and other major cities.

Yes.
It's simply called 'Close Quarter Combat'. Or it was when I was in.
It does not follow any particular Martial Arts style.
Recruits do not do very much of it either, a few lessons throughout training.

If you go into the paras then e.g. you leave after 5,10,20 years what jobs are there to do when you come out? The afco i spoke to said there is nothing to do other than either personal protection or bouncer(or something like that)....is that all you can do afterwards? What jobs could you get?

Hi everyone
I desperately want to join the Royal Marines but I'm worried than I'm too skinny and wouldn't be able to hack it. At 23 I'm 5'11 and only weigh 9st
I actually eat loads (always over the recommended fat/calorie daily intake) and I'm fairly fit yet I can't put on weight. I've been told I'm just genetically designed to be this way, my dad and grandad were the same ...

Folks, I have my BARB coming up soon. I've completed the BARB book and got them all correct first try, I've also taken the sample BARB test online, multiple times, I got them all correct at this stage, not that any of it counts towards the real test.
Before I go I am looking to arm myself up with tips so I can give the best first impression possible.
Also, will I be required to ...
