Are the IP address and subnet mask 169.254.x.x and 255.255.0.0.? If so, that indicates that: 1. The network connection is configured to obtain an IP address automatically. and: 2. It can't communicate with a DHCP server to get an IP addrdess. In that case, Windows assigns itself an APIPA (Automatic Private IP Address) in the 169.254.x.x range. The problem could that the computer's network adapter is defective. It could be a bad...

Hi, Click start, type services.msc and hit <enter>. Locate the Themes service and click on it. In the left column, start or restart the service. This should allow you to reselect the Vista theme in the desktop personalization which in turn will get rid of the classic taskbar.

I don't believe that the Event Viewer entry has anything to do with the updates. MSE does not update on the schedule you set in AU for other Windows/Microsoft Updates, though it uses the service. MSE checks for updates once per every 24 hours. If your PC is off or asleep when that scheduled check is due to happen, it won't happen. However, the released version is supposed to do a "catch-up" ...

Hi, Look in the Event Viewer to see if anything is reported about those. http://www.computerperformance.co.uk/vista/vista_e vent_viewer.htm This error is usually a driver issue and display adapter (video) driver is the most suspect though it could be others. Antivirus/antispyware/security programs, hardware (heat) and major software issues can also cause the error. When you get to the ...
