That logic makes no sense. I saw them go 4-5 in 2006 and then turn around to go 9-2 the following year. Was THAT a rebuilding year? This isn't Pro Football.

State of the Central 2009-2010

With regards to Rice, they still have the "skill' kids.... what's been lacking IMO is the front 7 type kids that they've had With regards to the crossover game between the division recently created- from what I understand- 1 team has protested the crossover game with the Central so I guess it's up in the air at the present time I think that UD should make games more interesting- especially given some of the young...

Do it anyway. Stuff happens! It has happened to me before and yes it is frustrating, but in my best Soprano - wadayagonnado! Hey, on your site I went almost a month without being able to pull up the responses to your posts, but it didn't and does not stop me from checking in with your site every morning. Like I said, do it anyway!

Another record year for DirecTV
Published (2009-12-16 19:45:41)
This was another record setting year for high school football on DirecTV. It could have been even higher since the NJ Parachial Group 4 final (Don Bosco) wasn't shown, Colorado top 2 classes finals not shown, and less regular season games in Minnesota and northern California. However, it was nice to see 3 northern California section finals this year to make up for the regular season action. I come up with tentative total of 219 games this...

Todd Pennycuff Named New Novi...
Published (2009-12-17 18:50:07)
Yea that's my hope as well. Tab was a great coach, but he needed his assistants to succeed just like I think Pennycuff will, so I really hope they all stick around. It'll be interesting to see what direction the ofense goes in. Im not sure what Pennycuff has run in the past, but the whole novi program, freshmen-varsity, has run primarly ace with a lot of option if I remember correctly. A change from that could either be just what the...

Best D2 Team of the 2000's?
Published (2009-12-10 00:00:00)
haha jason ruud. if i remember, he was the only white person on that team, and he mightve had the best state championship game that year. they kept running away from chris maclaurin, which was probably a good idea. i remember bein in the lockerroom at halftime of that game, and there was an odd mixture of optimism and fear. we were up 7-6, but we had fewer than 10 yards on offense. and then the second half came, and we didnt know what hit us....

State of the Central 2009-2010
Published (2009-12-11 14:05:17)
Without question this what a slight rebound year for the Central after a couple years of noticeable struggles. The Central again showed that each team can be a tough out in the playoffs, and ultimately that is what decides the good programs from the bad. A year ago I ruffled a lot of feathers when I stated that the CHSL was "Dead" as an elite football conference. It was met with calls of blasphemy from the CHSL die hards. It...

There were a few more games added to tivo after the first post. I'll be editing this later as I am still watching one more final game. I was greatly
disappointed when both Lakeland and St. Thomas Aquinas lost in the semis so they couldn't play each other in Florida's 5A finale.
There are some replays coming up on the tivo for the MHSAA finals as well that i will be listing tomorrow.

Most teacher union contracts have a clause requiring preferential treatment on internal hiring. Not sure how strong the language is... but it's there.
Frankly, I think it is total BS and think that the best candidate should be sought out... period.
That said, they had a few internal candidates who applied. Personally, I think all of them would have made great head coaches. It was then ...

It's happened to me as well. If I know that I am going to do a long post, I now do it in a word processor or spreadsheet file on my computer. Then, I copy
and paste the file to here. Or once in a while I know that I've written a lot, I do a copy and paste job from here to my file and then continue.

Thanks DC, I know you probably had the chance to see that team up close and personal. There was heavy debate after the 04 season in the west side of the
state about who was better Muskegon or Lowell. I still say Muskegon because of TT and they would have had to triple team him just like everybody else would
have, which ...

Q,
Great post and a source of what I am sure will be some great debate.
I would prefer to eliminate the whole "elite" thing from this debate, as I believe it to be a very subjective term and not easily defined for this
type of discussion. I would merely suggest that the question be, does the CHSL continue to warrant inclusion in the debate of what most concur as the top
leagues in the ...
