not this again depends. what system does he/she train in? how many lessons a week? how much time per lesson? how much training at home? hell, what's the definition of a black belt, or a "truly gifted" student, for that matter?

It depends on the club really, in my honest opinion. some clubs try to
promote themselves as a sporting taekwondo club and others don't. The
country I live in has numerous WTF clubs (its rare to see an ITF club for
some odd reason) and i notice some which really emphasises on the sporting
aspect. It's the sad truth that many recognise tkd as a sport, mainly
because of these clubs. Nowadays when ...

yes. you'll learn a lot. then it's up to you to use what you learned to see
how you can eventually beat him (because he'll pretty much punch the crap
out of you the first few times)

Can you tell me where these rules are being applied? Is this just in the Netherlands or Europe or internationally? It is a shame that competitions seem to be directed towards getting people to use certain tactics rather than just letting people apply the judo that they can use best. I really think that you change the way the competition occurs when you change the rules. In rugby the law ...

Regular advancement is alright if you maintain a constant level of interest and constant level of training in your routine, however, injuries are a major concern of course in these regular scheduled advancement.
In my organisation there is a minimum wait of 3 months between grading. The clubs that i went to was 3. but there are some clubs that wait 4. However, in most cases like you, our ...

1, Do whatever it takes to find a M Arts school that your comfortable in.
2, i'll tell you this so you dont injure yourself. Your front kick should be with the ball of your foot and your toes pulled back.
Just join a respected club, you wont regret it.
Good Luck

My thoughts,
To start something new from scratch is most difficult and I wouldn’t want to be part of that.
In general, we all train and practice Kuk Sool and want to keep it that way just not under the WKSA.
Those that left and those that plan on leaving could, keep it plain and simple, do what others did, name the school KUK SOOL OF…………
Try to form a renegade group/org. in ...

There are many crude grappling methods in shotokan kata, eg. arm bars, neck wrenches, wrist locks, chokes and strangles, take downs and throws.
Unfortunately at the moment grappling and throws are not part of normal training in most shotokan clubs, even though these techniques are in the kata no one is taking them out and practicing them like gyaka zuki, mai geri etc.
Some ...

Long ago I did maintenance work on a website which sold agricultural produce on internet circa ~2001, when putting a picture of your cat on internet was a big deal.
This website was ridiculously cumbersome, but it did manage to successfully sell fertiliser and nothing else, before collapsing. Hence I can safely say that my efforts contributing to selling horse-sh*t on the internet.
